For peace of mind, don't worry about changing cash to Canadian $$. The stores/restaurants/taxis etc in all the ports on the Canada/NE itinerary are very good about accepting U.S. $$ Sure, the exchange is probably not the best but their courtesy and offer for the convenience makes it very worth the small additional cost, for us. We don't make any large cash purchases so we are grateful for the courtesy. U.S. venders are not as gracious.

 

We've been in all those ports again and again and never had any issue using U.S. $.

I have $25. CND left over from our last cruise from Vancouver, which should hold me for a bit. We're also staying an extra day in Quebec, so I want to make sure we have what I call "running money" for a bus or a newspaper or a baguette ;)

You can use U.S. $ everywhere in Quebec City. The exchange difference on such small purchases is not likely to make any recognizable difference...... should you use up all your Canadian $.

Buy a "Beaver Tail" along the waterfront. Mmmm delicious. I like the cinnamon ones.

I just returned from a cruise that visited Halifax. There is an ATM at Pier 21, the immigration museum just steps away from where you get off the ship and also across the street at Java Cafe.
