Casino - When is it open? (Island Princess Cruise)

Hi , We are cruising on the Island Princess southbound on July 9 out of Whittier Alaska. My hubby is wondering when the casino is open ? All day each day? How late at night? In Glacier Bay? ( I can't imagine him wanting to gamble with that kind of scenery:confused: Anybody know about this? Thanks Sharbro

This is from memory, so it may be a bit faulty. The casino must be closed while the ship is in port. It will normally open about 1/2 hour after leaving port. It will stay open at night later than I ever did - when they close depends on the number of people there, usually 1AM or later. On sea days the casino will open at about 10:00 AM.

They are closed in Glacier Bay/College fjord. On our NB trip, we were supposed to dock in Whittier @ 2:00am. We arrived early so the casino closed @ 12:00. While I was winning! :(

 

BTW, machine #50, 'The Last Resort', located about the middle of the back wall was pretty good for us. It's a nickle machine, 9-lines, we played 1 nickle/line. We eventually lost our money, but it gave us very good playing time, got our credits over 1000 a few times. If we only walked then......:(

 

BTW2, in the jewelry store they have a guess the carat weight of loose gemstones. I won't tell the winning weight, besides if they were smart they would change it each cruise. But as a hint it was between 45-55 carats. (I guessed 140! Ooops! :(

The casinos are open most of sailing time, usually within 30 minutes of port. As mentioned they are closed in Glacier Bay.
