Carnival Triumph Suites and FTTF -- confused???

Recommended Posts

I wish I would have taken a pic of it in May on the Fascination but it does state "FTTF, Platinum and Diamond" and something about going to your room with another statement about going to Lido deck for all others. We were on the elevator going to our deck and another couple was with us. We stated we were going to our room and they said "You can't do that yet", we said we are Platinum and we can.... They were told in the priority waiting area that only FTTF could but not them (they were P)... We told them they could and they seemed a bit confused. So the confusion reigns supreme still.

Early entrance is NOT included in the fare for a suite... but is included with FTTF and P/D.

My PVP told me today (in writing) that with having a Suite I didn't need the FTTF but since she has not been very knowledgeable about anything else I have asked I am still not convinced, so I think I will risk the $50 to be assured that I at least get early access to cabin and luggage. I have booked Suites many times before (prior to FTTF or it was sold out) and have pretty much always waited until at least 1pm to get access to my Suite. Even when I paid a horrendous amount to surprise my now EX by booking one of the Owner's Suites that they called and offered to me as a past guest (more because of my casino play..lol). Now don't get me wrong that Cabin was the total BOMB but I really expected some VIP treatment to come with it since it was several thousand dollars to up grade to it and I was very disappointed as we were treated just as if we had an inside cabin except for priority boarding. Not even a free bottle of water in the cabin.

BTW my boarding says PRIORITY but my luggage tags do not have anything to distinguish them as priority or VIP like they have in past. They are gold colored I assume to correspond with the fact that this cruise puts me at the Gold level?? Therefore, I will risk the $50 and figure it out once on board for future reference if I can find anyone that truly knows the answers.

Hope to see and/or meet some or all of you on board.

Bon Voyage!!

Ok I just purchased the FTTF and while my boarding pass still says priority it now has F 2 F on the luggage tags so I should be good to go and if I find out any concrete info on board I will be sure to share it to hopefully clear up some of the confusion.

Have a great night all!!

I had a grand suite last week. You ARE in the VIP lounge during embarkation. My suite was ready as soon as I got on the ship, and my bags were at the room within an hour. Only two downsides- no fttf/diamond-plat guest services line, and had to tender in Belize. However- got up at a normal time in Belize, ate in the MDR, and got the tender sticker (group 9). We were off the ship less than an hour after we got there. No idea why so much negativity. It was fabulous!!

having a suite gives you priorty embarkation- it does NOT get you in the cabin. You will pay 50 bucks per cabin to gain access to your cabin.

Since you have the p[rirorty boarding-- maybe arrive about 12:30 to the pier. It took us less then 20 minutes to be processed-- and onboard.

There are no other perks for booking a suite.

I was in a grand suite last month on the Sunshine, boarded early of course, and decided to take a walk down the hall to see if my cabin was ready. My logic was that since suite guests have priority debarkation, that perhaps the turnover/cleaning of the room started early. I was pleasantly surprised that the room was ready. I also got luggage in record time, faster then the kids in an inside across the hall. Their room was ready also... Anyhow, it was a great suite, and I don't feel like I missed out on ANYTHING other than the special line at guest services. As an inpatient person, I simply called guest services and asked them to recommend times when they were less busy. They were happy to give that information and were always correct. I had a tender port as well, and simply getting the tender sticker when made available got me off the ship in group two. No cheating or line cutting, hate ppl that do that!!! Enjoy your cruise!!!!

I have only been in a OS or a GS...you get early boarding and go to the VIP line with security and the VIP lounge. Unless your a platinum or diamond your cabin will not be ready until their ready around 1:00. /1:30. You do not get priority tendering , you will have the choice of getting off in the first group at the end of the cruise.

With FTTF you do get priority tendering but only getting off the ship not back on.

You board after wedding parties platinum, diamond and suites and your cabin should be ready, luggage that's hit or miss but it should be delivered early.

As far as dining reservations it's no big deal at all .....plenty of spots no matter wh you are. Your own line at guest service....to me no big deal.

I read the entire thread, and I'm still confused about some things. We are doing a suite on Carnival for the first time, so I'm not sure what the suite benefits are, exactly. Priority embarkation, disembarkation, and that's all? If someone is Platinum, then does that trump the suite benefits?

In many ways, yes, because platinum also get FTTF benefits and suite guests don't.

You're basically correct that the only guaranteed benefits are priority embarkation and debarkation.

In my case, my Grand Suite was available right when I got onboard, and luggage was there within a half hour or so. But that may have just been a coincidence.

Suites on Carnival do not have all the "perks" that other lines offer, the cabin is bigger as is the balcony. Priority embarkation and Sometimes disembarkation is pretty much it. I would buy the FTTF if available.

there are no added benefits to a carnival suite. (the price is also a LOT lower then other cruise lines suites that come with perks) Unless you buy the FTTF you can not go to your cabin when you board until its ready- usually around 1:30 Booking the FTTF will get you to your cabin as soon as you board-- that will be the onlt extra you get but you have to pay for that

Once onboard you have the same benefits as the person who booked the lowest category

Maybe I get it now.:) Platinum suite is essentially the same as Platinum inside. Thanks!

LOL, that would be it!

One thing I do like about Plat or FTTF is the cabin being available right away. I did a Celebrity cruise in a cabin that had priority boarding, special dining and one step below the expensive suites.. ALL rooms onboard were not ready til 1:30. I sure HOPE the suite that was over 10k for 2 was open!
