From the MSC UK web site: "You will gain 1 point for every night actually spent on board an MSC Cruises ship and 1 point for every 200 euros/dollars spent on board (excluding casino expenses). Applicable for cruises beginning on or after 15 October 2008. The MSC Club points system is used to determine your eligibility for benefits under the following membership types: - Classic Membership: 1 to 21 points - Silver Membership: 22 to 42 points - Gold Membership: 43 to 99 points - Black Membership: 100 + points" Membership benefits are here: http://www.msccruises.co.uk/uk_en/MSC-Club/Memberships-Benefits/Overview.aspx You need to apply for membership, either while on board with the MSC future cruise specialist or online. Here is the UK form: http://www.msccruises.co.uk/uk_en/MSC-Club/MSC-Club-Become-A-Member.aspx T.

Skier52 Posted June 24, 2013 #4 Share Posted June 24, 2013 (edited) One cruise. As said above, you can apply during or after your cruise. You can apply on or after your cruise provided you have done a minimum of 3 nights on board but tge card and membership are not activated until the cruise has been completed Pete Edited June 24, 2013 by Skier52

AmoMondo Posted June 25, 2013 #6 Share Posted June 25, 2013 You won't actually get the card onboard, only be able to ask to join and the card will follow later in the post when you get home. I'd actually join now and get your membership number before you go. That way you'll start getting benefits when onboard

AmoMondo Posted June 25, 2013 #8 Share Posted June 25, 2013 Can anybody shed light on the expected time frame between joining on board and receiving the card in the post? Depends on whether they process it or don't! I joined twice onboard and also tried a few times via the website all without success, but that was around 6-7 years ago. Eventually got my TA to get it sorted out and the card followed a month or so later. Upgrades happened pretty much as they were due after that. Hopefully it works better now and you won't have long to wait. If you don't hear anything before your next cruise, chase them up. The card is not as important as having the membership number. Took me also several follow up e-mails to get the card. The last guy I spoke with finally promised me to put it in the mail the same day and I really received it the next morning. The silver card was sent to me automatically without asking for it.
AmoMondo Posted June 26, 2013 #10 Share Posted June 26, 2013 Yes it seems the hard part is getting into the system initially. Once you have the card, the upgrades happen automatically. Although keeping an eye on your points to make sure you get the onboard spend added is recommended
monicajay Posted June 27, 2013 #11 Share Posted June 27, 2013 I have completed 3 msc cruises and have yet to receive a card. Applied on board twice. Must be in the system though because we got invited to the repeat cruiser party.
GrandyMandy Posted June 27, 2013 #12 Share Posted June 27, 2013 The number is the important item. Once you have that, you can quote it for your booking discounts, and registering as a Club member, when on board. We very rarely, show our cards. Skipper Tim Posted June 27, 2013 #13 Share Posted June 27, 2013 My experience chimes with the comments above. I applied on board and online. I also requested the number via email as I wished to make a second booking immediately after my first. MSC's records showed that I had been an MSC Club member since a couple of months before my first cruise! They gave me my number and the card followed around a month later. After the second cruise I emailed to have my on board spend from the first cruise added and was told that my 'Silver card' was on its way to me. It never arrived. After the next cruise, I will be gold anyway and I will chase it up then. Being able to show the correct card for anything that comes with with a discount on board will be an advantage instead of trying to explain armed only with a number or an old card. I hope at some point MSC offer a free drinks venue, if only on a 'happy hour' basis for their most loyal guests. Or just honouring the 'choose today cruise tomorrow' vouchers for cruise fares other than Pronto/early booking would be a start. Stop mentioning Greece - it's making my green eyed monster stir! I'm having to make do with a glass of rosé and "Who were the Greeks?" on BBC2 as I type which is actually very interesting. sidari Posted July 25, 2013 #15 Share Posted July 25, 2013 As the 3rd requested card in a month for my other half has still not arrived despite being told by the main man so to speak that he had put it in the post i think it is time this thread was brought back to the Top! Rare travelberlin Posted July 26, 2013 #17 Share Posted July 26, 2013 (edited) My TA had to request my card several times. I still do not have the card. I have also registered onboard but nothing happened. However I have our membershipnumbers and I am glad to hear this is more important than the card. Capricruiser Posted July 26, 2013 #18 Share Posted July 26, 2013 The number is most important. The very day you board you should go to the reception desk and register your club number. From that point your cruise days and all on-board spending will go on your account and you'll be on your way to the next level.
pictonite Posted July 26, 2013 #19 Share Posted July 26, 2013 I requested cards, and quoted our membership #'s through MSC email - which I found on the website. I received a reply in two days and the cards were in our mail box within two weeks. Hope this helps!
sidari Posted December 2, 2013 #20 Share Posted December 2, 2013 contacted the UK MSC club people last week to see when my club status would be updated after the last cruise, received a reply the same day to say the cruise points had been added and that my Gold card would be here within Ten days. The Card has arrived today with the onboard spend points added as well ... :) now only 37 points away from Black as it stands. Well done MSC ... :D Credit where it is due. Skier52 Posted December 2, 2013 #24 Share Posted December 2, 2013 (edited) I'm awaiting delivery of my Black card, but had to fight for it. After my last cruise, which was booked and paid for as a 7 nights cruise, we were only credited with 6 points as we disembarked, by arrrangement with MSC at the time of booking, 1 day early. This made my wife's total 100 points and my total 99. My wife's Black card was duly sent out and received 10 days after the cruise. I had talked to the MSC club rep on the ship who said to approach MSC UK and she felt sure we would be given the seventh point each. She also suggested that my TA should make the request on my behalf. I tried both routes, via the TA to MSC club UK HQ, and directly myself to the top person in customer relations UK, pointing out that we would get the benefits anyway so it was a no cost thing for MSC to do. After 10 days I was contacted by my TA to say I had been get an "alright" mark but not graded "excellent" for customer service. I'm not sure which route worked, but I'm glad to say one of them gets a sort of satisfactory result Look out for a new TOP level in the next 12-18 months ( a little bird told me it is going to be PLATINUM) Pete Edited December 2, 2013 by Skier52
sidari Posted December 2, 2013 #25 Share Posted December 2, 2013 Hi Pete ... One of the customer service people on the last cruise told us that there were going to be changes made to the MSC Club, i noticed last week that they had removed the Priority boarding and a few other things. I find it odd that my other half is the same level as me on Princess,Royal and NCL but not MSC! all because they refuse to split the onboard spend between couples.
