Cheers

Has anyone been to Cheers? (I'm sure there is, silly question lol). We sail from Boston on Tuesday, but are driving in on Monday so we have a bit of time there. The one thing I'd like to do is Cheers. I see there is a second location. Trying to decide what to do when you only have 1/2 a day is hard!

Yes, there are two locations of Cheers---sort of.

One has the exterior used on the TV show, but looks nothing like the show's set inside.

The other is a reproduction interior of the show's set.

Neither IMO is worth wasting time for in a Boston with so much else interesting to see, but ymmv, and you may be in the vicinity of one or the other while on the Freedom Trail or seeing other sights.

Most of the tour companies swing by there between the Back Bay and Beacon Hill sections of their tours so you can see the front of the building and the steps going down, and know you were "there." No need to go in because, as has been said, it won't look like the show's bar did.

If you want to see the city in a short period of time, take a bus tour or duck boat tour. If you're the museum type, we've got those, too!

Makes for a good photo op from the outside - near the sign, etc. Inside has the gift shop where you can buy tee shirts, mugs, etc.

Like others said - that is about it. Bragging rights, and a good photo. Depending upon interests, there are many things to do in Boston for a 1/2 day. History buffs can take in Old Ironsides, a few of the National Parks, or Fanial Hall. Go to the top of the Prudential for some great views; head to Fenway for a tour of the park, and a beer at Boston Beer Works. Or a tour of Sam Adams. Newbury Street has some eclectic things, or the North End has some wonderful restaurants. Aquriums, museums, and shows are also available. If you do go to Cheers, go across the street and venture through the park too.. Enjoy!
