Wow -- they are a landmark that is in many of my Ft. L sail-away pictures! Didn't know they were scheduled for demolition.

just read it today.....have seen several implosions.....this will be from afar and probably not as exciting....However since we have been in and out of there we do have curiosity

I heard they were coming down but did not know when. Thanks for posting. I wonder if they purposely chose a day when there would be no cruise ships in port.

Sad, since we always knew we were close to Eller Drive when we saw them.

As a small boat guy, those stacks were the first thing we'd see when sailing back to Ft Lauderdale from the Bahamas....

 

On one return in a terrible storm in 1972 they were the sigle most welcomed sight I'd ever seen..
