Barbados' Segway Tour

We are going to Barbados on Royal Caribbean Jewel of the Seas the week after Christmas and are wondering if anyone has done the Segway Tour offered by RC. The four hour tour is on off-road type Segways that will take us on some of the beaches.

Has anyone done this? What beaches did you visit and would you recommend it?

Hello,

We did a similar tour with Celebrity last March. It was an off road Segway tour ( I believe the name of the tour company they used was Segway Barbados). We had a blast. It was about a 40 minute trip in a mini van each way. They drove you to the coast and we used the segways near the cliffs. It was beautiful. I don't believe we went to any beach after. You can google Segway Barbados to see if the tour matches RC's description. Hope this helps.

Cliffs?

Sounds like they took you up to the North Coast area, where the sea cliffs are scenic enough.

Hello Aplmac,

We had never been to that part of the island and it was beautiful. Can I ask you a question? We used to go to the Malibu/Cockspur Beach Club, I read somewhere it closed, is that true? We really enjoyed a nice quiet beach with clean facilities. Last year we asked a taxi driver to take us there and he talked us into going to the boatyard. It was too crowded and loud for our taste.

Look forward to hearing from you,

Regina

We used to go to the Malibu/Cockspur Beach Club,

I read somewhere it closed, is that true? ===> I'm not sure, to be honest.

We really enjoyed a nice quiet beach with clean facilities.

Last year we asked a taxi driver to take us there and he talked us into going to the Boatyard.

It was too crowded and loud for our taste.

Boatyard is one of several beach-hangout places along that curved Carlisle Bay beach!

Right next door is Lobster Alive where it is a lot quieter

and their dark-green beach umbrellas are huuuge, like a small house nearly! :D

I recently spent an hour with friends under one of them, between 1 and 2 p.m. on a hot day

but it made the visit quite bearable!

A little further down the beach is Copacabana and Harbour Lights.

If you liked the Carlisle Bay scene (other than the crowd and noise)

you might try one of these alternatives?

............................

Otherwise, you might try Rockley Beach -a bit further out, along our South Coast

-about 15 mins. drive from the Port. No noise there.

Rockley may or may not be crowded, depending on the day, since it is our most popular S.Coast beach!

Weekdays are usually not crowded, unless there's a whole mess of ships in, that day?

Many amenities at Rockley: food at the little snack-shacks, drink, showers, toilets,

fast-food/pizza right across the street at Chefette, taxis nearby.. bus-stop back into Bridgetown..

...hard to beat, and we get few complaints from cruisers, when they do Rockley Beach!
