Cthy651 Posted July 12, 2013 #1 Share Posted July 12, 2013 Sailing on the Solstice from Hawaii to Vancouver May 2014- when we arrive we would like to go to Whistler for a day or 2 - Anyone able to recommend the best way to get to Whistler and where to stay. Hubby does not want to drive, he wants to enjoy the views. Thank you

Rare martincath Posted July 12, 2013 #3 Share Posted July 12, 2013 Great link Gunner. Only hotel I've stayed in in Whistler was paid-by-someone-else Four Seasons (really nice, but not cheap!). I often see Groupon and other deals for cheap accommodation in the shoulder seasons - May should be an ideal time to score bargain hotel pricing unless there is still a lot of snow. Anywhere in Whistler proper is close to everything - walking distance - but if you don't want to drive avoid staying in Whistler Creek or Alpine Meadows. Hubby does not want to drive, he wants to enjoy the views. Thank you Wait until the last few weeks to get a bargain. Prices are low in the shoulder season. The fairmont Chateau Whistler and the Hyatt are your best bets. Almost everything else is down market by comparison.
bondscruisegal Posted July 13, 2013 #5 Share Posted July 13, 2013 Depending on when you arrive in Vancouver another option might be to take the Whistler Mountaineer train to Whistler. It doesn't start to run until the middle of May. You can take it both ways or go one way by bus. I've taken this train and it is a beautiful trip. They can also arrange a hotel package for you. You can find info on the Whistler Mountaineer at: http://www.rockymountaineer.com Have a wonderful trip.
