Hi Sep10,

Would you kindly tell me where we can board Oli's Trolley. When my husband and I were in Halifax several months ago we were unable to go to Acadia due to inclement weather. We are Both Into photography. This will be a wonderful Photo OP.

Thank you

Joy1

We did Canada/New England last fall (1st week of Oct.) and did Oli's Trolley thru Acadia Nat. Park in Bar Harbor. (It is Bar Harbor, not Halifax) Not sure if you have purchased your tickets? We purchased them online and the printed copy tells you where to go after you get off the tender. Right around the corner from where you tender you have to turn in your printed copy to receive the actual ticket and they tell you where to go to board, which is right down the street. We really enjoyed the tour.

Have a great time and cruise....we did!

Well, we booked today for the 10/12 sailing! The price for an obstructed oceanview seemed pretty good, and we booked E717 which from what I can tell isn't terribly obstructed. Plus we have some OBC from when our bathroom malfunctioned on our last cruise, plus DH's military OBC.

All in all, I'm pretty happy with what we got. If anyone has stayed in E717 on the Caribbean, let me know how it was view-wise and in general. Also, any recommendations for shore excursions.

Thanks, everyone, for helping us with our decision! Now let's keep our fingers crossed for no hurricanes or superstorms!

On this tour did they allow time for Photo Ops?

Please be careful where you leave your car if it is Red Hook.

We also left our car at the Brooklyn terminal with no problems.

We did this cruise once before and really enjoyed it. We will be on the Carib Princess in September this year again.

Just ask for help on the rough waters on this particular cruise. I have difficulity with sea-sickness and just hope the waters are not that rough because I would really like to do this cruise. Do you recommend September or October?

Thanks so much for your help.

It was very smooth sailing last October when we went. I am prone to seasickness at times, and I didn't have any problems at all. However, there also weren't any storms to speak of last fall, either, so this fall could be completely different.

We're think about a New England/Canada cruise out of NYC in October because the fares are reasonable and we could drive to NYC. Those who have done this itinerary - did you enjoy it? We could leave either October 12 or 19th; I doubt there would be much of a difference foliage-wise or weather-wise, right? I still have some vacation time this year and am looking for a fairly reasonable way to use it without using it for a staycation. (Unfortunately, my workplace is use it or lose it, so I definitely want to use it!)

There aren't really any other ports we can drive to, so it's pretty much NYC if we don't want to add airfare on to the cost.

We travelled all the way from California to do this itinerary, 3 times...all on Princess. Yes, we love love love this itinerary....hate hate hate the long flight to get there, though. All three times we have gone in Sept as I am not able to get time off in October. We did see some of the fall colors and had similar weather for all three trips....rather cool and windy but not at all uncomfortable. These cruises were amongst my favorite so I give it a big yay!!

PS -- favorite things to do / favorite ports:

Bar Harbor -- my absolute favorite place on the East Coast. Be sure to go down to one of the places for a lobster roll -- a real one - they are amazing here. We also got a blueberry beer -- a big yay for this as well. We toured with Ollie's Trolley up to Cadillac Mountain in the Acadia National Park. What a fabulous trip and not at all expensive. There is a nice walking trail just north (I think) of the dock -- just past that beautiful gray hotel with the white trim. This is a nice place to sit on their patio, have a glass of wine and watch the lobster fisherman bring up their traps. Far cry from anything we have out in California.

Halifax -- there is a great Maritime Museum here right down the boardwalk with tons of the Titanic artifacts. You can just purchase tickets here. It is kind of a fun town to walk around ...lots of hills, though once off the boardwalk. I believe there is a place called the Citadel here -- I may be mistaking but a graveyard with those that didn't survive the Titanic disaster. Then, way down off the other end of the boardwalk is a very fun casino if you want to try your luck. Beer tasting right by the pier is also fun in the afternoon / early evening.

PEI-- we have only stopped here one time but fabulous walking town. Stop by the visitor's center -- they can tell you how to get around. There is a fabulous museum here of one of the old government houses for the Maritimes. It was dirt cheap, very interesting and not at all crowded. From there we walked to this bar / restaurant, (the name escapes me but learned of it down at the visitors center -- maybe the Handley House or something like that) reminded me of Cheers. It was really crowded -- lots of locals -- we had so much fun there with this couple that we met vacationing from Sydney and the bartenders. By the end of the afternoon, we were pouring beers for the patrons. What a blast!

Newport, RI -- well, you have to go to the Cliff Walk and maybe visit a mansion or two. No more than that as you want to enjoy some time out on that beautiful walk. You can take the city bus down to the Cliff Walk and back and even purchase a pass for the Breakers (mansion) online ahead of time. Way cheaper than the ship's tour and nice area to also walk around -- felt totally safe here.

Boston -- not even what I expected. I love this city and the people are friendly and helpful...at least all the ones we met. I learned a new adjective here - 'Wicked' -- so funny, everything was 'wicked this' wicked that'. Not a term we hear much out this way. And what happened to those 'R's' that used to be part of the English language. hahaha

I took a tour here one time and it was amazing. I learned so much and we had a wicked good tour guide. We visited all the famous landmarks -- too many too mention. It was half on the water and half in a bus....excellent tour and well worth the relatively small cost. We one time walked down to the original Cheers -- a bit of a hike but such interesting stuff along the way. Boston is such a clan city - I was impressed. I loved the Government buildings, architecture, history, etc. We walked along the Freedom Trail and through a cemetery where Ben Franklin's parents, Granny Goose and Samuel Adams were all buried. Right there in town...not far off the Freedom Trail. Faneuil Hall is a can't miss, too. Like I said, too many things to mention -- what a great city if you haven't been there before.

As you can see, we made the most of our time on these amazing cruises. If I lived closer, I would jump on it again and again. I give it 3 yays!!

Remember to pack warm clothes - early morning or late eve may be cool. And the shore trip up the mountain - we had frost, it was warm on the ship/dock, but when we got off the bus - wow the cool breeze was a bit of a change! Remember to layer, and for sure take a hooded rain jacket.

They had had a storm the day before we left on this cruise, and we did not see many leaves, but still loved it, and will do it again!

I cruised the 6th of October.

Pool deck was warm in NY, and we had a day at sea - then it became cool, and we did not swim again. So do not take tons of "beach" wear.

Well I hope the OP made their decision because they would have to have left last October :)

Haha, yes, we went last October and had a good time! It was a very relaxing way to use my week of vacation! We probably won't do this itinerary again (too may other places to see!) but we did enjoy it.
