Okay...now I really need help! New to NCL and all the acronyms.....browsing before booking...what is CAS? I am unsure now about booking directly or using an agent. I do want to use some Visa air miles so may be limited. I am not booking a suite....is that when you get most perks?

CAS is the Casinos at Sea program. I think if you are registered at a ship's casino or some land based ones, you can get a free or reduced price cabin based on your play history. We will never qualify for that unfortunately, or maybe fortunately! LOL.

Yes, the perks, if by that you mean suite amenities, are associated with the suite bookings. Mini suites not included. It is well worth the increase in $ if you find a good deal. And, you get $300 OBC for a suite if you book 9 mo out.

Since you are new to NCL it might be good to talk to a PCC at NCL. PCC is a personal cruise consultant. They can give you lots of info re cabin types, fares, pros and cons of certain locations, sales etc. If you book direct with NCL and you find a TA later that is offering a good deal for OBC etc, you can transfer the booking if within 60 days and you have not paid in full and not in final payment period. Don't know anything about using visa air miles, I would ask the PCC.

SuiteOBC=$300, PPSRVCH=$84 per person for prepaid service charges. Not sure how many people on the booking can get it. I thought only two. When given by a TA that is. Did you all prepay your service charges? Not sure how much OBC the other codes would get you. Did you book with a TA who gave you some OBC and/or or prepaid service charges?

Nope, no Travel Agents.. I just don't use them - it just seems like an extra person to put into the mix..........and to be honest, I travel like this once in a blue moon, it never even crosses my mind.

Part of the fun for me is all of the planning and organizing I think.

Yes we prepaid our service charges - they have to be paid at some point anyhow, so we may as well take care of it upfront. It's exactly $300 higher - big mystery, that's for sure

Well, it could be the $300 suite credit that they tacked on late for some reason. If you prepaid the DSC, then part of the total is $84 x the number of people on your reservation.

Wait. I prepaid my service charge. Am I supposed to get increased OBC then??

The OP listed PPSRVCHG as one of her promo codes. It has to be an abbreviation for pre paid service charges.

Perhaps someone who has done this can confirm, as I have never prepaid mine and never thought about how it actually shows up. I did just book with a TA who offered prepaid service charges as perk, and their offer stated it would be issued in the form of OBC, so I am assuming that part of her on board credit is the pre paid service charge.

But, maybe if booked with NCL and you prepay, they just never add it to the bill?

Perhaps someone who has prepaid can shed some light.

PPSRVCHG is the code that you prepaid the service charge.

I booked with NCL and prepaid my $432 months ago.

My promo codes are that plus suiteobc, dashsale and easyfare

OK, but is the $432 included in your OBC total?

No. It's included as part of the cruise bill. For example, my upcoming Pearl cruise:

Guest Fare

Government Taxes/Fees

Prepaid Service Charge

Gross Total

I would have included the numbers, but it made a mess when I tried to paste it in here.

OK, that answers my question. It is just deducted from the fare as any prepayment would be. Guess only the TAs Prepaid Gratuities appear as OBC which is weird because NCL will not apply it to the actual DSC and it will be billed to me anyway. So I will have another $168 to spend on booze and food.;)

I logged in this week to check to see where our balance is for the May 2014 cruise........... when we booked in September 2012, we were given an OBC of $450 for 3 people on the itinerary. Since then we replaced one of those people with someone else, and added a 4th (just since the beginning of May 2013). Last week it was still showing an OBC of $450........ today it says $750. What would cause our OBC to go "UP"? I assume this is just a glitch ... right?

The same thing happened to me yesterday but I just checked and they appeared to find the error. Check yours out and let me know if the same thing happed to you.

Mine was back to $450 ;-) No biggie, really, it's all we're "supposed" to have... so I am not going to fight it. Website glitches happen.

I agree too. It would have been nice to have the extra $300 though.;)
