OBC goes from $450 > $750

Recommended Posts

I logged in this week to check to see where our balance is for the May 2014 cruise........... when we booked in September 2012, we were given an OBC of $450 for 3 people on the itinerary. Since then we replaced one of those people with someone else, and added a 4th (just since the beginning of May 2013). Last week it was still showing an OBC of $450........ today it says $750. What would cause our OBC to go "UP"? I assume this is just a glitch ... right?

Don't look a gift horse in the mouth lol

I know :D that's why, obviously, I am not going to 'call' and ask about this, I just wondered what could kick something like this off....its not like there has been any activity on our account. are they doing this because they love us ? haha

Perhaps they included a promotion that was going on when you added the fourth person that was not available when you originally booked? In any case, it looks like a good deal that is in your favor, and here's to hoping it stays that way for you!! :D

I had something similar happen to me last year when I booked for this August. I booked through CAS and I had $150 OBC on all of the original docs I had. I then was able to add in the HSN $100 OBC on top of that. So I thought I had $250 OBC and then when checking on things a couple of months after that I noticed I had $550 OBC. I am thinking I got the $300 for booking a suite 9 months out added on at some point. At least thats my best guess. All my docs have shown this $550 number for many months now.

that's great. make sure you copy it and take it with you incase there is a glitch when you board.

A question for Offandon - I have been told - many times, by each and every CAS agent - that OBC could not be applied for CAS bookings - also upgrades couldn't be used. I love NCL and their casinos, but have been wondering if they're such a great deal when we can't avail ourselves of a lot of the offers (ie - booking 9 months in advance for suite OBC - and the upgrades - and AARP or Latitudes offers).

Same here. I always get the same, we cannot combine and then read people do get it combined. very annoying to say the least

I can only tell you my experience. I don't really know what their policies may be. When I was researching prices and booking options I called CAS on a whim. I had previously only cruised once on a 2 day out of NY. They offered me 20% off a booking and my situation had me looking suite anyway so given the large discount we booked the OS. It was such a great deal I never asked about OBC but was instead just happy with what we got. All the original docs seemed to show a 150 obc. I want to say I remember seeing latitudes at the top of the docs perhaps indicating the obc was attached to that. This was the time in spring 2012 when all the HSN stuff was happening. I called them up and just asked if they could apply the obc from that and they did. My docs then said 250 obc. I do not know when exactly but sometime in the next few months it changed to 550. The only thing I can think of is that it's for booking the OS more than 9 months out but I really have no confirmation on that. I am not calling any extra attention to the situation. :)

Ok I went back and looked at all the PDF files they sent after any changes to our booking. Seems my codes at the top were Casino Rate and Dashsale right from the beginning. I see no reference to the HSN promo except the obc went up 100 after I asked for it. Then after I booked a cabana and they sent a new PDF I see the SuiteOBC code also now appears and it went up 300 more.

We always book thru CAS, and not always, but we have recieved and used OBC. Sorry to tell you that we have also gotten upgrades, but never from the upgrade fairy, my husband has called to see if there was anything available.

What we are unsure about is that with the new program if all will get drink cards or just if you make Hot status????

Safe sailing

All the adults in my cabin got the drink cards - and I was just lucky for the two cruises I've taken - now I'm hot (hoping the Breakaway casino point glitch is solved by my August cruise) and looking forward to the few more amenities offered for that level. Hate that we start again April 1, 2014...wish the casino point program was more like the Latitudes cumulative point system.

My cruises were done since the new program was instituted - March 2012 and May 2013.

That is encouraging.:)..I booked almost a year ago (via CAS)..and when new program was instituted--called and emailed..was told I was "lucky"--AND EVEN THOUGH BOOKED WITH CAS...THERE WOULD BE NO DRINK CARDS...

These are our promo codes

DASHSALE

EASYFARE

PPSRVCHG

SUITEOBC

as of today, the $750 OBC still shows on the webpage... but the confirmation PDF they sent me today still says $450

Could be the 4th person we added, had some that carried with her, because she was booked to her own stateroom and cancelled it to move 'in' with us when we lost one person from our itinerary. Myself and 4th person are first timers on NWC.. the other 2 are bronze tier Latitude.

we booked 18 months before the cruise date.

Sometimes OBC will show up on an Amenity Confirmation, but not on the normal confirmation PDF they send out. Why they don't combine these I don't know.

SuiteOBC=$300, PPSRVCH=$84 per person for prepaid service charges. Not sure how many people on the booking can get it. I thought only two. When given by a TA that is. Did you all prepay your service charges? Not sure how much OBC the other codes would get you. Did you book with a TA who gave you some OBC and/or or prepaid service charges?

We booked a mid-ship balc on Breakaway in March 2012 @$2877, using a $250 pre paid voucher. There were no OBC or specials at that time. Once the ship hit NYC the prices started to fall and the deals started. I checked the website often and made calls every time the prices changed. At one time I found the Aft Balc for $1259 pp, I put a hold on it and called my CC @NCL. Unfortunately by the time we spoke my 30 min hold was up and the price had changed. We were unable to duplicate it, but she did help me get a good deal. By the time my final payment was due we were in an Aft balc for less then original price with $50 OBC. It pays to stay on top of the cruiseline, and to have a great CC! Can't wait until our 9/22 departure:D

On your last cruises, did you use certificates from a land based casino? Cuz then you def get the drink cards. Its the regular booking with CAS that we are unsure of. Even the agent we spoke to was unsure ( at least he didn't give out untruths)

Safe sailing
