tracyd1014 Posted July 21, 2013 #1 Share Posted July 21, 2013 We will be on the Coral Princess Panama Canal Cruise at the end of September. Was wondering about a post cruise excursion of the air boat ride in Ft. Lauderdale. Sounds like a lot of fun. Our flight leaves at 2:00 pm for home. According to the Princess site the excursion is from 9:00 until 11:15 where they drop us at the airport at the end of the excursions. Sure that will be enough time - right? Wondered about the lines at security at the airport. If anyone has done this excursion, will we be needing to change clothes when the excursion is over? Any info would be much appreciated. san diego sue Posted July 21, 2013 #2 Share Posted July 21, 2013 We had an excursion with drop off at airport and didn't get to airport till 1:00PM. Our flight was at 3:30.Our excursion was tour of Ft. Lauderdale and the waterways boat ride. Princess will be specific on the tours and usually say if your flight is after a certain time, you can take the tour. You can book the tour while on board the ship. Speak to them at that time. I think you will be cutting it too close. In our case we already had our boarding passes and had luggage taken to airport by Princess on their EZcheck program.(I think that is name of program). So all we had to do was walk through security and on to the gate.
Potstech Posted July 21, 2013 #3 Share Posted July 21, 2013 Took an excursion like that after the Panama trip. You do not get to the airport tip 1300 or so. Cutting it kind of close for your flight a 15-20 minute delay in getting to the airport and you will likely have missed your flight.

Have taken the tour from Princess in FLL. Always made to the airport for our flight.

According to the Princess site the excursion is from 9:00 until 11:15 where they drop us at the airport at the end of the excursions. Drop off time is usually accurate. Those above who say they arrived at the airport in the afternoon took longer tours. Sure that will be enough time - right? Wondered about the lines at security at the airport. You will have 2.5 hours. That should be plenty. The longest lines are usually earlier for morning flights. If anyone has done this excursion, will we be needing to change clothes when the excursion is over? No need to change clothes due to the excursion. You will stay dry (unless it is pouring rain.) Any info would be much appreciated. See above in red.
Rare JustinPlusLauren Posted July 21, 2013 #6 Share Posted July 21, 2013 You should have enough time! We took this tour on a B2B when we stopped back in Ft. Lauderdale between two cruise segments. It was a lot of fun and we really enjoyed it!
ocntscha Posted July 21, 2013 #7 Share Posted July 21, 2013 We did it once because we had a late flight, around 5PM as I recall. We did an alligator farm / air boat ride tour. It was a blast and a great way to pass the time. 1000 times better than sitting in a boring airport all day. I think their was a slight delay getting us out of the ship's terminal so they made it up by just cutting the alligator farm tour a little short. And oh yeah.. no, you will not need a change of clothes. I don't recall getting wet at all.

Liz54 Posted July 22, 2013 #10 Share Posted July 22, 2013 The are very careful on timing on this excursion. We booked it with our teenaged son. He looked forward to it as the highlight of the cruise. While we were on the bus waiting for it to fill, they came and took us off saying they thought they were cutting the timing to close. We were reimbursed very quickly and just went to the airport. Sadly, we saw our fellow passengers coming into the airport early enough that we would have had ample time to make our flight. I think you can leave yourself in Princess' hands on this one... Samanthamelody3 Posted July 22, 2013 #11 Share Posted July 22, 2013 That should give you enough time. When I did this, they booked your excursion based on your flight time and which airport you were flying from....do they not do this any more?
