Best way of getting to St Marks Square

Visiting next week. Last time we used the ships shuttle but this time it's too restrictive

 

I have three choices

 

1. Walk in

2. Vaperetto

3. Aliligula

 

Struggling to decide. Currently favouring walking or Alilgula for ease, where does it leave from in the port? What's everybody's thoughts

Walking through Venice is a great way to get the feel of the city as well as burn off a few cruise calories.

One option is the walk to SM square and return via the Vaporetto up the Grand Canal to see the city from that perspective.
