Cabin #11106 Star

We just booked a mini suite on the Star, was wondering if anyone had this cabin before and was it noisy with the pool above? Also is a mini suite worth it or would a balcony at the back be better? Previously we had a mid ship balcony on deck 9 on the Star but found it a little small but manageable. Looking forward to everyone's thoughts.

We were not in that room exactly, but were near by. I don't recall too much noise from the pool deck. Maybe a chair scraping from time to time. We did have some VERY noisy neighbors though, that we had to complain about a couple of times, but that can happen on any deck. The main difference between the mini suite and regular balcony is the bathroom. In the mini suite you have a larger tub shower combo instead of just that small corner shower stall. We will be on the Star again in October and very much looking forward to it. Enjoy your trip.:)

We had Cabin 11106 2 years ago. Every night we heard a door closing every few minutes. The door needed some lubrication as it squeaked. Then when it closed it made another noise. Never did find out if it was the crew door across the hall or a door on the pool deck above. Really irritating.

I had cabin 11100 last september. We were 3 adults in there, so the sitting area was converted to the 2nd bed. Lets say we were just ok as size go. But we loved the balcony and spent every early morning and late night on it !

As for noise... Yeah we had noise for the deck abobe. Not at night but early morning, around 6 am, there were scraping noises and alot of door opening and closing from a crew only section right above our cabin. If you are a light sleeper you will hear it.

But we loved the location and our room steward. We had blast.

Have fun !

Check about the ship you're going on, but there was an appreciable difference in the size of the balcony between the standard balcony cabin and mini suite on Dawn. In the mini suite cabins on Dawn, the coffee table in front of the sofa was moveable and we took it out to the balcony. This gave us room to put drinks, a plate of fruit or cookies, sunglasses, a book. This table also had a shelf underneath it. The table that comes with the balcony is only about a foot by a foot - can fit two drinks, but that's about it.

For us, it was worth it. Maybe keep checking prices to see if the mini suites come down to a rate usually associated with a balcony cabin.

Just a heads up... the mini suite is NOT a suite and gets to additional perks compared to a balcony.

To double check location, pull of the deck plans side by side to see exactly what is above you. (hint-use stairs as a guide to line them up)
