We are going to St Maarten in October on the Carnival Freedom. We like going to local craft markets to purchase art and wood carvings for our house in each port we go to. We are not looking for mass produced souvenirs or touristy items. Can anyone share the places we need to go to find locally made art??? Thanks:)

The Marigot Market on Wednesday or Saturday mornings are the days when most crafters are at the market. It's at the waterfront in the town of Maigot on the French side of the island.

made in China.

The local crafters can be found amongst the made in China souveniers. We have purchased wonderful watercolor paintings and paintings made on coconut fibers. I have seen carvers in the past as well. Saturday and Wednesdays are the best days to find the crafters at the Marigot Market.
