Tipping in a Grand Suite - how much and to whom?

Recommended Posts

I haven't seen any recent threads on this. We are staying in our first full suite in October (the free upgrade to JS got us hooked us last year) and are wondering about tipping. Who should we tip, and how much? We've prepaid the standard suite tips and are accustomed to tipping our steward a little extra a the beginning of the cruise, then a bit more at the end if he/she was extra attentive. We also usually tip the bartender at our favorite bar a little extra at the end of each evening and tip room service. Are there particular people who we should tip (or tip extra) when staying in a suite?

The prepaid tips will cover the extra amount suggested for the suite attendant.

Nope you got it well covered. As Clarea says, the cabin attendant's extra tip is already covered, and your generous extra will be well received, as you already know. But your in a full suite and you get to go to the concierge lounge, (and you should go since that's part of the perks from a suite)his/her tip is not included and you should tip them separately.

the only other persons to worry about that are not covered under the daily charge is the concierge and the Bartender in the CL

and then solely based on your personal preference

As others have said, on our recent cruise we tipped the concierge - she helped us with troubles with an internet package and also arranged some bookings for us.

We also tipped the CL bartender once at the end of the cruise - they have tip envelopes marked concierge and concierge bartender in the CL on the last couple of days of the cruise.

We do the same thing as others have already suggested. Use your judgment in determining how much to give over and above based on the type of service you receive.

You will enjoy your GS! Be sure to acquaint yourself with all the perks that come with it such as reserved theater seating, etc.
