karabear15 Posted August 15, 2013 #1 Share Posted August 15, 2013 I understand that this may be an odd question, but as I will be visiting Belize City in November I would like to know how far out the cruise ships anchor from the port. I ask only because I am curious if it is possible to see the Blue Hole that Belize is so famous for from the ship.
Rare crewsweeper Posted August 15, 2013 #2 Share Posted August 15, 2013 Short Answer-NO. Ships anchor 3-5 miles out. Blue Hole is around 60 miles out.

rmandmm Posted August 16, 2013 #4 Share Posted August 16, 2013 Do you know if it's near the route that the cruise ships take, meaning can you see it at all when approaching or leaving? Sorry if this question is way dumb. :o
Rare crewsweeper Posted August 16, 2013 #5 Share Posted August 16, 2013 Most likely NOT. I think most ships would enter the Belize City area via the northern route, going around the Turneffe Atoll. If, depending on where they wer prior to Belize City, they came up from the south, they would most likely enter Belize's Inner Channel between the Glory and Columbus Reefs, which are well south of the Blue Hole. This map might help show where things are. http://ambergriscaye.com/maps/franko-belize-divemap.html
