Rare 1of4 Posted August 20, 2013 #2 Share Posted August 20, 2013 Any taxi will know where you want to go if you say the Boatyard. I think it is on Carlisle Bay which is close to Bridgetown. I am not sure if it is an easy walking distance or not as I have not done it. But I know you can walk from the town back to the ship.
aimodels Posted August 21, 2013 #3 Share Posted August 21, 2013 Both are within walking distance if no one in your group has mobility issues. From the cruise terminal to downtown is about 1/2 mile, maybe a little more. From the cruise terminal to The Boatyard is about a mile, maybe a little more. From the terminal, head southeast to the roundabout at the south port gates. Keep walking along Princess Alice Hwy. with the ocean on your right. Eventually, PAH becomes Wharf Rd. as you pass the marina on your right. Turn right at the bridge and go across. Now you should be on Bay St. and the ocean should still be on your right. Keep walking about 100 yards or so and The Boatyard will be on your right. Cheers, P:)

aimodels Posted September 16, 2013 #7 Share Posted September 16, 2013 I believe it's $12 pp and that includes a drink ticket as well as the ride back to port. Cheers, P:)
Putterdude Posted October 2, 2013 #8 Share Posted October 2, 2013 How much was the admission when you went? I can't remember exactly but it was something like $12 or $15 which included a rum punch drink or a Caribe beer and a shared taxi ride back to the port. aimodels Posted September 22, 2014 #10 Share Posted September 22, 2014 Yes. Keep going past the marina on your right. Broad St. (one of the main shopping streets) is a block inland from Princess Alice Hwy. (Hincks St.). National Heroes Square, Independence Arch, Chamberlain Bridge and the Parliament are about a block before the Fairchild Bus Terminal. The Nidhe Synagogue is about 3 or 4 blocks north from the Parliament Bldg. Cheers, P:)

I was thinking we might walk and then taxi back unless it is not safe or scenic? Just don't want to get lost, lol..
aimodels Posted October 8, 2014 #13 Share Posted October 8, 2014 (edited) I can't remember if there's any signage for the Boatyard along the way. It's very easy to get there, just head away from the cruise port and keep walking with the ocean on your right. You can always ask a local if you're unsure. They are generally quite friendly and willing to help out. There is good signage in front of the Boatyard, and generally a good collection of taxis in the parking lot. You can't miss it. Here's a good photo of what the street view looks like: http://www.tripomatic.com/Barbados/Bridgetown/The-Boatyard/ You will have to pay your entrance fee before you go inside. The walk is safe and quite scenic... Cheers, P:) Edited October 8, 2014 by aimodels

barbados Posted October 8, 2014 #15 Share Posted October 8, 2014 Like aimodels said, it's an easy, safe walk to The Boatyard. Here is a overhead showing the dock in the upper left and The Boatyard in the lower right. Just keep the water on your right and you can't go wrong. Enjoy your holiday on the island! :)
