Cabin 9256 Radiance Alaska?

Recommended Posts

For those of you who have had this cabin on the Alaskan cruises, could you tell me how windy it was? I know it's popular because of large balcony and views but I am wondering if I will be cold and would be better off in one of the more enclosed balconies. Any help would be appreciated.

I understand your concern---we are in 1100 in Alaska in 2014.

In my experience aft facing cabins, even corner/aft, have fewer issues with wind. Center cabins are the best but corners have little problem unless the wind is directly from that corner and STRONG.

We had 1104 in Canada and I ended up terribly ill. Most of my time was spent on our toasty balcony in the sun. Surprisingly, one day we had winds up to almost 60mph. I had no idea but our dinner people could not open their door to their balcony.

The biggest advantage is ship movement/apparent wind....which is what your body actually FEELS with the ship's movement.

Lets see if I can explain.

The ship is cruising at 20 knits and the wind is on the bow at 10 knots. We will feel 30 knots of wind if we stick out heads out in the open but we feel nothing on our balcony.

Next......

The ship is moving at 10 knots and the wind is dead on our stern at 20 knots. We will feel 10 knots of wind on our balcony.

That is apparent wind. Make any sense?
