KJENN Posted August 27, 2013 #1 Share Posted August 27, 2013 We are taking an excursion and they do transportation in coaster buses which only have lap belts- we are taking our two kids (18m and 3.5) and the carseats won't work with only lap belts. Just wondering if the road is an interstate type road or a slow moving 2 lane road... any idea?
CDNJehn Posted August 27, 2013 #2 Share Posted August 27, 2013 You'll likely travel along West Bay Road (unless they take Esterly Tibbets for some reason). West Bay Road is a busy road, but NOT a fast one. The speed limit was recently reduced from 40mph to 25 or 30 (according to a recent article even the locals aren't sure which one it is). It is only two lanes. Speed limits are LOW in Grand Cayman, averaging around 25mph. On the way to the East End it sometimes increases to 50mph...yahoo!!! ;)

However, much of the road on busy cruise ship days may be "rush hour stop-and-go" type traffic, so in those sections you may not even get up to that posted 25mph...
