Hotwire hotel ratings in Fort Lauderdale?

Just doing some research on my cruise / stay in Florida next spring break.

 

Question: has anyone noticed that hotwire hotels seems to have a higher rating than the same hotels on Priceline or other booking engines? Hotels that are 3 1/2 stars on Priceline are often 4 stars on Hotwire, and so on.

 

Looking for a 4-star or better hotel in Fort Lauderdale but don't want to end up with one that is a bit of a stretch.

Check the hotel lists provided for both hotel sites on betterbidding.com. Some are the same. Generally hotels are ranked on amenities. A very nice boutique hotel with no restuarant might get a 3 star. But add a restaurant and it jumps to 4. And of course the range in 3 star and 4 star hotels can be pretty wide. Just do your homework and know possibliities in the area you are looking.

 

 

If picky, don't use PL. And narrow your possibilites on Hotwire and Lastminutetravel so you end up satisfied.

 

THe 4 star beach and downtown hotels in Ft.L are not cheap during "spring break". Know the going rate (from their websites) before starting your bids.

I believe there is some truth to Hotwire's tendency to over-inflate their hotel ratings as per this article on Hotwire hotel ratings.

 

If you're concerned about the hotel, just look at all the winning bids here to get a generalization of what you're likely to get. As well, there are more curated lists of Hotwire hotels on these sites:

You could be in for a surprise but at least you'll know the general range of hotels you're likely to get.
