4444 Posted August 31, 2013 #1 Share Posted August 31, 2013 is it possible to purchase a couple thousand in casino credits in advance? I notice $100 max on the website. in the past I have wired the cage money but was wondering if there is a limit to what I can prepay so I don't need large amounts of cash onboard. a search only turns up info about slot promos and such. thanx... garycarla Posted August 31, 2013 #3 Share Posted August 31, 2013 I believe they will set up a credit line - do it through the Casinos At Sea folks. Taking a couple thousand in cash is no problem. Leave extra in safe after you board. They also have an ATM - it will cost you $6 to withdraw $1,000 - but easy to do. Also, if you play enough and get to I think the GOLD level, you can charge to your room if it has a credit card attached and avoid the 3% fee. The number is on ncl web site I did they had zero clue what I was talking about. they emailed me wiring info. I told them under gifts was the option to purchase casino credit for $100. when you click on that it asks how many you would like to buy but also says limit one per customer. makes no sense and the cas host did not know. No, they absolutely limit you to one of each denomination per person (one $100, one $50, and one $25). We have tried other options over the years, and setting up a LOC is the only way to get over the $175 pp limit. Robin

Are those 100, 50, etc. promo credits or actual cash credits?

Guessing that anyone that handles normal gift purchases including the token casino credit thing would have no idea about credit line, etc. On the CAS website there is a link to casino credit and application. Fishbait17 Posted September 1, 2013 #9 Share Posted September 1, 2013 Thank you for the answer. Are those 100, 50, etc. promo credits or actual cash credits? They are actual cash credits. IIRC, you get chits delivered to your cabin, and then you take these to the casino cashier (or desk- cant remember which) where (I think) they just give you cash. There are also promo credits that you can purchase separately (like $20 slot play for $10, and promo chips - $15 promo chips for $10- again each are one per person, plus the $50 slot play for $25 at slotplaycoupons.com) and these are exactly that - promo credits that must be played out. There is also the option to just buy the "other kind" of casino credit, dont remember what its called exactly, which is basically like any other purchased OBC that goes directly into your onboard account (rather than getting cash). I don't think there is a limit on these, BUT when you withdraw the cash from your on board account, you will be charged the 3% fee unless you are Golden or VIP level (in which case the fee is waived). Confusing, yes.. Sorry. Hope this makes sense! Robin

I bought those $100 casino credits. It is true it is only one per person. You can buy more than one only if you are then putting in different passenger names for each of the credits. I wanted a second one for our second b2b cruise and couldn't do it online because of the one per person limit. I had to do it through the Group Event co-ordinator. Fishbait17 Posted September 1, 2013 #11 Share Posted September 1, 2013 Hope this helps clear it up.. These are the ones where they have always just given me cash at the casino desk (or cashier). Never had them give them to me as promotional play that must be played through, although I see where it says you might be issued promotional play (I never have, always cash): 700 $25.00 Casino Promotional Play (LIMIT ONE PER PERSON) Promotional play may be issued in either promotional table game chips or promotional slot machine credits. Terms & conditions apply. $25.00 701 $50.00 Casino Promotional Play (LIMIT ONE PER PERSON) Promotional play may be issued in either promotional table game chips or promotional slot machine credits. Terms & conditions apply. $50.00 702 $100.00 Casino Promotional Play (LIMIT ONE PER PERSON) Promotional play may be issued in either promotional table game chips or promotional slot machine credits. Terms & conditions apply. These are the ones where you definitely get promotional credit, which must be played thru: .706. Free Casino Promotional Table Game Chips With a purchase of $10.00, receive $15.00 in promotional table game chips. Promotional play will be issued in promotional chips. Terms & conditions apply. (LIMIT ONE PER PERSON). $10.00. 721 Free Casino Promotional Slot Machine Credits With a purchase of $10.00, receive $20.00 in promotional slot machine credits. Promotional play will be issued in promotional slot machine credits. Terms & conditions apply. (LIMIT ONE PER PERSON) $10.00 These are the ones that I think you can purchase more of, that are treated just like any other onboard credit, and are subject to the 3% fee: 600 $25.00 Onboard Credit Certificates $25.00 601 $50.00 Onboard Credit Certificates $50.00 602 $75.00 Onboard Credit Certificates $75.00 603 $100.00 Onboard Credit Certificates. $100.00 Hope this helps! garycarla Posted September 1, 2013 #12 Share Posted September 1, 2013 All this buying credits online, filling in forms, taking chits to cashier. Would it not just be easier to put another $100 bill in your pocket? Just sayin......
negn Posted September 1, 2013 #13 Share Posted September 1, 2013 Was given onboard credit as a gift with plans to use at casino. Still had to pay the 3% to get the cash to use SO thats not the way to go either

Would it not just be easier to put another $100 bill in your pocket? Just sayin...... on a 7 day cruise between my wife, myself and my niece we could easily drop 10,12,15 grand in the casino maybe more. carrying that much cash is not always the best option. if I do carry that much onboard I will deposit it with the cage when I get there. I think what I will do is simply wire the money ahead like I have in the past. would have been nice to have vouchers waiting but it seems that is not an option... Would it not just be easier to put another $100 bill in your pocket? Just sayin...... It's more than just another $100 bill. We are on a ta with 10 sea days, then Panama Canal transit with several more sea days. So, besides the casino being open at night it is also open during the day. Even if we are small gamblers, less than $100 a day, that is still more than $3000 ($1600 apiece) to carry. The less cash we have to carry, the better. We'll probably get Travelers Checks since that is safer than cash and they can be cashed as needed at casino or front desk.

Rare Tom-n-Cheryl Posted September 1, 2013 #18 Share Posted September 1, 2013 I applied for a LOC (low 5 digit sum) about a week ago and have yet to hear anything back - not even a confirmation that they received it. Does anyone know how these things work? Two weeks to go until our Breakaway sailing. It would be nice not to haul cash along! Tom

I was referring to those that do get the one voucher. Not so much those already taking a few thousand in cash. re: Travelers Checks. I know some feel safer with them, but I don't quite get the problem with carrying a few thousand in cash - other than those that might misplace it, which is hard to comprehend. Tom BTW - when I applied for a LOC in Vegas (Aria) a year or so ago, it was approved in under 15 minutes. I know since we're talking CAS here that I might have to temper my expectations! ;) Tom

We get the casino vouchers because it is that much less cash to carry. You might feel safe carrying a few thousand in cash, but having to go through the airport scanners it is too easy for someone to grab carry on's. Can't wear money belt in that all invasive scanner so it is temporarily in carryon. At least if travelers checks are stolen they're replaceable.
