Post Cruise - Late check-out / Early check-in

We are thinking of booking at IHC-Tahiti for the last day of the cruise. The cruise ends on a Thursday and most ATN flights are late at night. While we can stay onboard that last day, we do not have a cabin. I think we would be more relaxed by staying in a hotel. So here is the question: Should I book the hotel for Wednesday night with a late check-out on Thursday -or- book the hotel for Thursday with hopes for an early check-in? Has anyone done this or can offer advice?

we stayed at the IC the night after the cruise. we headed over there after eating lunch onboard ship, and we were able to check in right away.

We are booked for the day at the Radisson at the end of our cruise.

I would book a day room.......call the IC reservation number and get thier suggestions...they were very helpful when I made my post reservations for 2 nights. :)
