limpy Posted September 7, 2013 #1 Share Posted September 7, 2013 We are wondering if there is a more scenic side of the Star Princess to be on when cruising the Hawaiian islands? Thanks!!

Harry and Lucille Posted September 7, 2013 #3 Share Posted September 7, 2013 We are on the Star in December. Been on that trip before. For many days, I spend sunrise on the stern lido deck for morning coffee. All water on either side of the ship. Docking or departing can vary. Can see it all, morning or evening from the Lido. Picking a specific side can be very subjective. Come into port at sunrise and leave at sundown, just place yourself for the best view that you want. Not trying to sound snarky. Just my opinion.
Rare Keith1010 Posted September 7, 2013 #4 Share Posted September 7, 2013 I would not worry about this because you just never know which way the ship will dock. Keith
Cruisin' Chick Posted September 8, 2013 #5 Share Posted September 8, 2013 Usually we get inside cabins so if we want to get a good photo arriving into a port, we watch on the navigation channel (that's on Princess) to watch the progress and then go up on deck. On our last cruise, on the Golden, we were far aft on the Aloha deck, so we had a short distance to go to the doorway. We had a fantastic view of the whales hanging out by the ship in Lahaina. The Hawaiian cruise before that, we had an obstructed ocean view on the starboard side which worked out for watching the arrivals from our cabin. But as someone else pointed out, there could be sailings in which the port side is better.
