Eeyoregon Posted September 8, 2013 #1 Share Posted September 8, 2013 I've narrowed it down to two cruises. Either itinerary would make me happy. But I have some first time cruisers going and I want a great ship. So, if you had to choose between the Liberty and the Sunshine, which one would you choose and WHY? Thanks! Rare pirate4me2 Posted September 8, 2013 #2 Share Posted September 8, 2013 I chose Liberty because I have heard such good things about the ship. I was also concerned about crowds on Sunshine. I decided to wait and see how she does when she gets to the US and sails from here for a bit and see what others say. I know Liberty doesn't have all the bells and whistles of Sunshine but I'm ok with that.
Rare mizLORInj Posted September 8, 2013 #3 Share Posted September 8, 2013 Have already sailed Liberty and some of her sisters. I like to try new things so it would be Sunshine for me. Just off Glory yesterday and they were showing a video about the Sunshine and it looked good.
Kfoot Posted September 8, 2013 #4 Share Posted September 8, 2013 I haven't been on either ship. Heard great things about the Liberty, but I would go with the Sunshine first. Either way, base on the review I think you will enjoy whichever one you choose.
b_cruise Posted September 9, 2013 #5 Share Posted September 9, 2013 Been on both. Liked them both. The only thing that may worry me is sea days on sunshine. Not enough space/ chairs for all the people.

jbhcw Posted September 9, 2013 #7 Share Posted September 9, 2013 Have sailed the Liberty twice...and sailed the Sunshine when she was the Destiny...I would choose the Sunshine..but prices are also higher I think?...and with first time cruisers with you they would be wowed by the Liberty...good ship... I liked the pics I've seen of the new Sunshine...not sure about crowding issues though.
rtap23 Posted September 9, 2013 #8 Share Posted September 9, 2013 I would choose the Liberty. It is one of my favorite ships and its crew is also one of the best IMO.
Rare pirate4me2 Posted September 9, 2013 #9 Share Posted September 9, 2013 What does Sunshine have that Liberty doesn't? Liberty got the 2.0 upgrades. Sunshine has waterworks, Liberty just has the twister slide. Sunshine also has some extra dining options Liberty doesn't (the asian place, Italian place, Shake Spot, Havana bar, maybe some others) and I think that's it. I'm sure someone else can let me know if I missed something.
golfadj Posted September 9, 2013 #10 Share Posted September 9, 2013 Sailed Liberty twice and enjoyed her both times with another coming in a few weeks. Until Sunshine completes some caribbean cruises and people report back would not book as I am concered about crowds on sea days.
figdu Posted September 9, 2013 #11 Share Posted September 9, 2013 With the three deck Serenity deck I would take Sunshine.
boundarywaters Posted September 9, 2013 #12 Share Posted September 9, 2013 I would go on Liberty...In fact I am doing a B2B Nov30 and Dec 7 on Liberty...Have sailed on Liberty before... Great ship....
SMSACE6 Posted September 9, 2013 #13 Share Posted September 9, 2013 I said Liberty, because I have sailed on that ship, and that was before the 2.0 upgrades. It was my best ever cruise, and that is why I chose Liberty. Itinerary might sway me the other way, but I admit to being somewhat turned off by some negative reviews on Sunshine. Not saying I would never sail on that ship, but given a choice I would still choose Liberty.:)
JerseyshoreBruce Posted September 9, 2013 #14 Share Posted September 9, 2013 I would choose the Liberty hands down......has all the bells and whistles and is a great ship....Sunshine while nice its still working out some issues!
cruizinisthebest Posted September 9, 2013 #15 Share Posted September 9, 2013 Picked the Sunshine only because that's my next ship of choice. I've heard great things about them both. Enjoy whatever you decide. How was your Sensation trip OP?
cjknox Posted September 10, 2013 #16 Share Posted September 10, 2013 That's a tough decision but I'd have to go with the Sunshine.
Eeyoregon Posted September 10, 2013 Author #17 Share Posted September 10, 2013 Thank you to all that have voted and posted replies! :D I'm leaning toward the Liberty.... Gina
E Heffa Posted September 10, 2013 #18 Share Posted September 10, 2013 I didn't vote because I've only been on the Liberty...three times! I love the Liberty. I just got off the Valor and watched the "documentary" on the Sunshine upgrades. They looked very impressive. We are looking at a September 2014 8 day out of Port Canaveral...both the Liberty and the Sunshine do the same itinerary. It looks like the Sunshine is about $120 more per person (4 in a cabin). I think we are leaning towards Sunshine to give the new digs a try.

But I have some first time cruisers going and I want a great ship. So, if you had to choose between the Liberty and the Sunshine, which one would you choose and WHY? Thanks! I'm partial to the Liberty because of the Cover Band "Music Boardwalk" that will be there on my May 9th cruise next year. I also like the itinerary. Eight day cruise that includes Aruba which I've never been to. Sorry about the double post. Made a mistake. Mary49
BIG_Steve Posted September 10, 2013 #21 Share Posted September 10, 2013 Not many folks here seem to have been on both, myself included. I've been on the Liberty and her sister the Glory. Fine ships. Laid out well, and easy to navigate. I think a first timer would love the Liberty, especially with you there to fill in the blanks. Going on the Sunshine in May. Hope it knocks my socks off.
