We arrived at the port around 11:40, handed our luggage to the porter and he affixed a FTTF sticker (we are platinum). Up the escalator to the security screening and there was no line! Right through to the lounge for plat/diamond. New: Canadian cruises require a Canadian customs form now which you hand in to your check-in agent. Very similar to our customs forms. Got our cruise cards and onto the ship we went.

Dropped bags at our cabin at 12:10 I noted some FTTF bags were in the hallways already delivered. We then headed up to the Lido. (No lunch in a dining room.) I do like the buffet too. Note there is a burrito and taco bar near the pool, as well as Guy's burgers. We had the burger that has the bacon "welded" to the top. Yum.

Lounged in the Serenity area a bit and then it started to rain. Went to a bar for a cocktail, then our cabin. Still no luggage. Muster was happening soon. The usual outside Carnival muster drill. Luggage showed up right after muster drill.

By sailaway the weather was beautiful. We always enjoy sailing from NYC.

We had early dining and a large table with some fun people. The food was quite good and some new things were added since we cruised Carnival last year. We also ate at Emerald Steakhouse one night which was very good, although I thought the servers could've been more attentive asking us if we wanted our drinks refilled, etc. Pizza not so great this time, but very glad there are 3 places to get soft serve ice cream; enjoyed a cone every day. Also note the Cantina serves breakfast burritos and these really good pizzas too.

Breakfast in the dining room was our two port days only. The other days had the brunch in the dining room which was good too. We used our past guest free drink coupon at brunch.

The comedian was good we thought. There was also a female comedian whom we did not see. The production shows aren't what they used to be—far fewer performers.

I wish some of the trivia games were in a location other than the smoky casino area. Used to use the theater for these.

Party for Gold/Plat/Diamond was the third night in the Ebony lounge. The only drinks being served first is some punch I did not like. After a while I asked a waiter for a mojito and he got me one. Snacks served: mozzarella wrapped with tomato, cheesecake, tiny ham and cheese sandwich, salmon. Carnival ship run-through on the screen, then conga line.

Taste bar had good stuff a few of the nights. Check the Fun Times for what is being featured. Seems to me that this location used to serve sushi.

Alchemy bar was great. We did the sampler the first night and then found a new favorite cocktail.

Waterslide's always fun. We also did the wine and food pairing demo (fee). Watched Skyfall at the Seaside Theater. I like this feature a lot.

First sea day the fog was very thick. The foghorn sounded every two minutes. Fortunately we had 9c cabin fully aft so we did not hear it in our cabin. Arriving into Saint John the fog was so thick we couldn't see past our balcony. By 10am it was a gorgeous sunny day. We enjoyed wandering around and a lobster roll in two different places. Found a fabulous place called Liquid Gold—olive oils and vinegars to sample, and we bought a bunch of them too.

Arrival in Halifax was a beautiful sunny day. Then the clouds rolled in. Later in the afternoon it rained, but then was sunny as we left.

Headed up the Hudson River at 6am followed by the beautiful Norwegian Gem. We were at the dock by 7am, and among the first off at 7:40am or so. I noticed the FTTF people were with platinum/diamond in the lounge, however, the Platinum & Diamond people were called to debark first.

We had very calm waters and a variety of weather, and the last sea day was beautiful. Enjoyed our balcony.

Enjoyed the cruise a lot. :) Sadly, I suffered from cruise withdrawal yesterday.

Great update! We sail on Glory October 5th. I had read on some other posts that the jacuzzis on the Glory had been closed. Are they reopened and available now?

Glad you had a good time.

The breakfast burritos are the best! My first day home, I woke up and realized I couldn't just run up to the lido deck and get get a burrito. It was a harsh reality check.

That is a bummer about the trivia being in a smoky bar. DH and I enjoy trivia but I am asthmatic and can't be around smoke for an extended time. :(

I was on this cruise as well. We went to the trivial and did not find it that smokey. Irl I don't hang around with smokers so I figured it would probably bother me but wanted to give it a try anyway since Matt and doctor E were so hilarious. We were glad we gave it a try! Ended up going to every music trivia after that because they were so funny. For those wondering the location was a little stage across from the casino. We definitely would have bailed if it were really smokey, honestly I think our balcony was smoker than the trivia area at times. So don't be afraid to give it a try, you might get lucky and find it is tolerable for the twenty minutes or so the trivia takes. :)

Afterthought II:

Remember when the chocolate buffet took up half of the buffet area? Well it doesn't anymore. It was at the little dessert table aft, and the fondue station was in the middle section of the regular buffet aft. So it is less than half of what it was last year. I was a little surprised, but then again, not sure I care all that much. :)

I agree, I was on the same cruise. It was not smokey at all. I am a non-smoker and the slightest bit of smoke bothers me.

They had signs posted around the casino stating you were only allowed to smoke in the area if you were playing in the casino. There were also little signs on the casino bar stating no smoking allowed. You were not permitted to lounge in the area and smoke. I didn't see anyway breaking the rules. And we were in the casino a lot. I actually enjoyed the trivia or listening to the band while playing video poker. The area has several seats on the edge of the casino where the stage is that over look the ocean. It's a nice area but busy.

Thanks for the info! We'll be on the Glory for the 7 day sailing on the 28th of this month. Quick question: When you leave NYC, do you pass the Statue of Liberty? If so, which side of the ship? And is it close enough to get photos? Thanks so much! :)

Yes, you do sail pass the Statue of Liberty, it will be on the Starboard side of the ship. You are close enough to get pictures, it's about 20-30 minutes from when the ship leaves port. The NYC skyline and the Freedom Tower will be on the Port side of the ship. Go to a deck higher than the Lido deck. After passing the Statue of Liberty you will have a nice view of the Verazzano Bridge before you sail under it.

But the photo op I liked the best is the catching the sunrise over Manhattan, it was gorgeous when we sailed back into port on Saturday.

I will post photos if I can figure out how to do so.

Enjoy you cruise.

What is this sampler? Details, please?:D:D

4 mini martinis for about $16. I just checked the Fun Times and it's called "Alchemy Martini Tasting." You can choose from 7 pre-selected drinks that are on the Alchemy menu. Not all their drinks are included in the tasting/sampler. It's a good way to try some of the drinks if you're not sure you'll like them.

We have had chipotle pineapple often so we tried the 6 others (2 of us). The lavender one and mint one (2 different drinks) were our favorites. 20 is the new 40 isn't bad either.

So certain nights these are offered--check the Fun Times. I think it was twice on this 5 nighter.

the 4 minis equal 2 full size drinks.
