Alaska - Pearl or Jewel?

Besides the itinerary... What are the differences? Is one better than the other?

 

We did Alaska 2 years ago on the Star. We did the Tracy Arm. Thinking about Glacier Bay this time but not set on anything yet.

Ships are nearly identical both being Jewel Class ships.

 

I would base my decision on itinerary. As you haven't sailed Glacier Bay yet, I would opt for the Pearl.

Glacier Bay is wonderful. Much preferred the Pearl over the Jewel. I'd do the Pearl again, but not the Jewel.

We have done both glacier and Tracy arm. I'd go with the glacier bay since you haven't been there yet.

They are just about identical, the only difference is: the Pearl is a few years newer, but both are part of the Jewel class ships. We have been on both.

What's the price difference? While I've not experienced a suite, I understand the perks can be awesome. The most cost effective way for us to do Jewel in AK was an inside for the teens across from our balcony room. Well, MOST cost effective would have been two insides, but you don't want to be in AK without a balcony :)

Been on both to Alaska, more than once. Prefer the Pearl. Better spa, buffet and some extras like rock wall and bowling.
