We are so excited about the launch of our new ship, Norwegian Getaway, and hope that you share our excitement for her arrival in Miami this February! Last week we unveiled the details and rendering of the ship’s Miami-inspired Svedka/Inniskillin Ice Bar, which features art deco décor reminiscent of the Magic City’s famous Ocean Drive. We also continue to update our Norwegian Getaway blog with fun news and information from the ship yard. If you have not visited the blog recently, check out the latest entry from Norwegian Getaway’s captain about how he felt when he saw his new ship for the first time (getaway.ncl.com). If you want to get really excited, visit our Facebook page to see an awesome video of the ship’s Chief Engineer, Carsten Fosbo, testing the Aqua Loops for the very first time(

On 2 November 2013 the 146,600-gt cruise ship Norwegian GETAWAY, whose construction has taken merely 12 months, will float out of MEYER WERFT's covered building dock II. Over the last few weeks the shipyard has been busy con-ducting extensive tests and machinery trials. With the ship being berthed at the yard's pier, the remaining work and tests and trials will be carried out in the next few days. Within merely a couple of days, the first crew members will move into their cabins on board, and familiarize themselves with the ship itself and its numer-ous systems. The Norwegian GETAWAY's conveyance down the river Ems towards the North Sea, where she will prove her seaworthiness, is scheduled for mid-November 2013.

The 146,600 gt cruise ship has a length overall of 324 m and is 39.70 m wide. Its construction complies with the latest safety standards, and the ship meets all valid environmental regula-tions.

The float-out will be broadcast via webcam on http://www.meyerwerft.com
