If this is the cruise tour you are talking about, you are in for a treat. We did this a few years ago - Canadian Rockies pre-cruise ending in Vancouver and then northbound on Princess. An absolutely spectacular tour.

Three words of advice - Gold Leaf Service. You will not regret one penny of the extra cost.

Enjoy!!

Thanks Michael think we are defiantly going to book this on Saturday, would love to upgrade to the gold leaf but it would depend on the cost. What do you get for the upgrade.

Great leather seats in a dome observation coach (great views) vs. standard seats in a regular coach, pretty much constant seat snack and drink service, hot baked cookies that were great (I swear the smell alone is worth half of the upgrade), included meals (all excellent) cooked in the dome coach galley, upgraded hotels in some locations, etc. I believe we also got upgraded accommodations in all of the Fairmount managed hotels (like square-on lake front at Chateau Lake Louise), etc. I believe we also had a dedicated tour guide because we sometimes did not see the Red Leaf passengers until the next morning (in different hotels some nights?) when we were boarding the train. We did not see inside the train cars Red Leaf Service was using, but we did hear some complaining from others in the Princess group that they were not too happy. From the Gold Leaf passengers - not a peep and big smiles all around.

Was it a little pricey (an extra $600 pp probably 5-6 years ago)? Yes. Would we pay for the upgrade again? Absolutely! If it fits in your budget, you will not be sorry.

A wonderful add-on either pre-cruise (like us Calgary to Vancouver) or post-cruise (like you will do Vancouver to Calgary).

We had a large group from England, Wales, and Scotland on our trip. Princess marketed the cruise tour mainly in Europe so there were only a few of us from the US and Canada in the car. A large group of us bonded pretty quickly and had a spectacular time both on the tour and on the cruise.
