losijon Posted September 28, 2013 #26 Share Posted September 28, 2013 You said the banner was 3 feet, maybe less... Did you measure it? Do you know for SURE it wasn't 6 feet before you go complaining that it wasn't? These are questions you will probably be asked if you take this further... Mysticks1 Posted September 29, 2013 #27 Share Posted September 29, 2013 I think if you weren't satisfied with the decorations you should have gone to guest services onboard immediately after finding them. If it were me and they weren't what I expected I would have told them to take them down and refund my money for them. If you left them up the entire cruise and waited till you got home I don't think you have much of a case for a refund based upon dissatisfaction with the product. RuthlessBoss Posted September 29, 2013 #28 Share Posted September 29, 2013 Ok, so I recently was on the Carnival Pride for my Anniversary and I pre-ordered the Anniversary Room decorations. The description states: "A perfect surprise to enhance a cruise experience for the anniversary couple, decorate a stateroom with "Happy Anniversary" wishes; a festive cascade decoration with hanging hearts and anniversary wishes, 4 streamers leading off a center ceiling decoration, 4 danglers amongst the streamers add to the ceiling decoration, a 6 ft. long Banner proclaiming "Happy Anniversary", and a 20" table centerpiece." Needless to say the banner in the room was 3 feet, maybe less. While that may not sound like a big deal, I did pay for this package with the assumption it would be 6 feet. When I emailed Carnival for a explanation and or partial refund they basically said. "Our staff has the authority to use substitutions when needed and a Happy Anniversary Banner was provided. We apologize for any further disappointments this may cause." There was no fine print saying this, a company can't just change what you purchased. That is like if I purchased an OceanView cabin and got an interior cabin. Short of filing a charge-back with my CC is there anyone else I should try to contact before going that far? First. Why did you e mail Carnival? You were already ON THE SHIP when it happened. How far into the cruise were you when this happened? Did you fuss about it from the time it happened? Did you report it while on board? Do you have your pictures to back up your story? I think you handled this poorly for a mere few bucks. I'm not saying you were not disappointed, but there are far worse things in life than to fret over 3 feet on a decoration. I'm glad you at least got a small banner, I'd hate to think how upset you'd be if there was no banner.

swscruiser Posted September 29, 2013 #31 Share Posted September 29, 2013 I over heard the best complaint in my life - and it was about packaging, it left me laughing for days. Ok here it is:- I am standing in the queue in a supermarket and a woman goes up to the service desk in front of me and complains about the disposable barbecue she bought the previous week. When she had opened it to use on the beach it wasn't like the picture (the front cover which was of a barbecue with lots of meat on it and when she opened it if only was a ready to light barbecue - no meet. Well I was already trying not to laugh- but she fininshed me off with her next sentance. the server answered saying the photo was only to show how it was used. The woman's reply :D But I though it was a bargain, if it had al that meet on it that's why I am returning this opened one I thought the meat was missing- I bought 4 The server - well where are the other 3 The woman - In my freezer- I wanted to keep the meat fresh Me- I left the store tears rolling down my face- I couldn't even finish my shop. Midwestgal Posted September 29, 2013 #33 Share Posted September 29, 2013 I see where you coming from they should give you what you ordered or have a disclaimer saying things are subject to change. As far as myself I would look at it as a lesson learned and keep it in mind if or when I ever decided to order something like that again.
GranysT Posted September 29, 2013 #34 Share Posted September 29, 2013 We sailed the Spirit to Hawaii in 2012,for our 50th anniversary. Upon opening our cabin door, we were pleasantly surprised to find our cabin decorated with Happy Anniversary décor. Our daughter had ordered them for us. Our banner wasn't 6 ft long either, but we didn't care. We loved the thought, and enjoyed our decorations the entire 15 day cruise.

theriveras Posted September 29, 2013 #37 Share Posted September 29, 2013 I think if you weren't satisfy with your purchase you should have complaint while on the ship, now is just not worth it. Is like buying something in the store, you have a period of time to return it. I would however ask them to change the description, for others sake. billie5 Posted September 29, 2013 #39 Share Posted September 29, 2013 Why do people get so upset over such little things in life? I have to wonder how people like this would deal with raising a multi-handicapped child, or having a terminal illness. Certainly nothing I would wish for, but it would at least give them some perspective.

hendo13 Posted September 29, 2013 #43 Share Posted September 29, 2013 Because it seems like he ordered the decorations enjoyed them for the entire cruise and now when he is home he wants a refund because they were not what he expected. He also mentioned that he might even contact his credit card and dispute the charge. Just sounds like a someone who wants something for nothing. Just like the people who remove the auto tip and stiff the staff.

naz022292 Posted September 29, 2013 #45 Share Posted September 29, 2013 I know how frustrating it is when you plan everything out and then you don't get what you ordered. It doesn't even sound like something they had to substitute... it sounds like it has been misrepresented for a while. To the people that think that he should have ripped down the decorations in front of his surprised wife and ruin the surprise... how would you feel if you ordered a cake for your wife- and paid for a deluxe cake with her favorite filling, special frosting... etc... but when you cut the cake for her party you found that it was just plain yellow cake - no special filling - no special frosting. Would you think that the only way that you could get some of your money back for the special cake was if you took the piece back from your wife, packed up the entire cake and brought it back to the bakery right then and there? Of course not! You would smile - enjoy the cake and the rest of the party and take it up with the shop in the morning! You already had a slight disappointment that it wasn't what you ordered - you're not going to ruin the night over it! Now that being said, I think that after talking to carnival and not getting satisfaction I guess all you can do is use it as a learning experience to be used each time you choose where to spend your vacation money. Big_G Posted September 29, 2013 #46 Share Posted September 29, 2013 Why do people get so upset over such little things in life? Are you talking about the OP or the incessant whining from the cheerleaders when some comes here to complain? I have to wonder how people like this would deal with raising a multi-handicapped child, or having a terminal illness. Certainly nothing I would wish for, but it would at least give them some perspective. Do you know the OP isn't dealing with any of these things or are you just ass uming? Actually its funny you mentioned that, I also ordered a cake (from Formalities) to be delivered to the Steakhouse on our Anniversary night and that never showed up either (that was refunded though). I appreciate the responses from most of the folks on here and this issue is now taken care of. For the rest of you people that replied to this thread because you have nothing better to do then insult someone hidden behind the internet, get a life. People come here to post questions, and talk about their cruise experience. Not to get harassed by some loser who comes on this board to insult someone when they asked a question. You are the type of people who need the help more then I do.
naz022292 Posted September 29, 2013 #48 Share Posted September 29, 2013 Glad to hear that your problem was resolved. I am always happy when people post their experiences here (good or bad) they help me know what to expect. We went on our first cruise in August and quickly booked another for Jan. 2014. Something like this wouldn't stop me from booking... but it is certainly something valuable to know. I was shocked to find out before my first cruise that if you purchased cruise cash and didn't use every penny... you would lose whatever was left over (I know that people have said you could trick the system by putting on casino account and cashing out) - Who would have ever thought, before reading these posts, that any left over money not only wouldn't be refunded... it can't even be applied towards a future cruise! It certainly made me reduce the amount of cruise cash I chose to purchase. The posters problems definitely would make me think twice about some of the packages from the fun shops... would the coolers be as described... would the towel be the one in the picture, etc... If it wasn't correct... how would they deal with me?

You do not mention addressing this while you were on the ship. If you did not address it then....it is to late to start complaining now. If was that big a deal, then you should have exercised your Carnival Vacation Guarantee and gotten off at the first port. Since you did not do that....don't make a mountain out of a mole hill now.
