4th of July fireworks from cruise ship?

As we watched the firework spectacular on TV July 4th, it occurred to us that it would be such fun to see these shows up close from a cruise ship in either NYC or Boston. I found a Cunard QM2 cruise out of NYC on July 3, 2006 going into Boston for July 4th which we thought would be perfect. I decided to check the Cruise Critic Cunard board and found the following postings.

I'd really like to hear more about about the change of intineraries that have taken place for the past two years. If the ship goes to Newport rather than NYC or Boston, that's fine but we'd sure like to know ahead of time.

Where did the July 4th, 2005 Cunard cruise originate? Are there other cruise lines that go into a port known for a firework spectacular? If Cunard does dock in Boston, then which side of the ship should be book to watch fireworks from our balcony?
