Cabin Crawl / Slot Pull Stories

Recommended Posts

So, I have done a cabin crawl on every cruise I have been on and they have always been a good time. It seems to be a great ice breaker and it gives you enough time to really figure out who would be fun to hang out with the rest of the cruise (if that is something of interest). In general, we would end with the largest cabin where we would have some drinks. That in itself makes for a good time. :p

While by no means did we do everything together after the CC, we did make it a point to schedule a few more things together. In general most of us met as a group everyday throughout the rest of the cruise just to catch up and have drink before dinner.

One couple we met got a visit from the upgrade fairy from their JS to a GS. We referred to them as the GS Snobs from that point on. It was all in fun as they were a very modest couple which added to the fun of giving them a hard time. That particular group from the CC became good friends which stayed in contact for many years after that.

I have not had the experience of doing a Slot Pull as of yet, but we will most likely do it on our next cruise.

Anyone got any stories from their past Cabin Crawls or Slot Pulls? I think in many cases doing these types of activities as a group can be more fun then the actual M&M.

I'm excited as well to hear how things went. I am going on my very first cruise...EVER.

I have learned so much from CC that I actually ventured out and am in charge of our cabin crawl and slot pull. We have a very active group on our FOS, December 8th sailing.

I have some surprises along the way with both of them. One that I shared with our group is that we will end in our room, which I like to refer to as a Christmas Candyland. I will have close to 40 pounds of candy, mostly chocolate. We have over 50 people signed up for our cabin crawl and a good variety of rooms. The two I really wish we could see are the Royal Suite and the Ben & Jerry's suite. Pretty much all the other suites are covered. We are staying in an owners suite and very excited.

For our slot pull, it is $20 per person. $18 will go into a wheel of fortune machine, and $2 into a pot. Everyone will get 6 pulls on a full machine. At the end, we will all split the winnings and the single highest pull will take the pot where we put the $2. So far there are 29 people signed up for that. Again I have a surprise for that too....

We also have allot of other activities we are doing such as a gift exchange, sail away gathering, lottery thingy, chocolate breakfast, and lunch in between the cabin crawl and slot pull.

I am just so grateful for everything I have learned from CC. S many people helping answer all my silly questions. I can't wait for December to get here! :p:D:)

We have done 2 slot pulls and really enjoyed it. You do get a chance to talk to some of the other participants. In both cases we walked away with a little cash.

The slot pulls really need to be organized to work well. I think it is important for the organizer to get with the casino manager to be sure a large group will not be in the way.

We did one on the Jewel this past March. We did ours around 2pm but when we arrived in the casino, someone was on the preferred maching with no plan to leave soon so we had to find another machine. We did $20 pp and came away a few dollars ahead of breaking even. When it was your turn to pull you had to let out a woot woot and turn around three times before spinning. We had about 10 peeps and was pretty exciting hoping someone would hit the big wheel. The group chatted while others were playing.

We've participated in roll calls where cabin crawls were planned, and one that was supposed to have a slot pull. On the first one, the cabin crawl was right after the Meet & Mingle, on Freedom. We had a decent variety of cabins, including an accessible one which was sized close to a junior suite. On the second one, the M&M was scheduled just before lunch, basically, so we just gave up on doing the activities afterward. Everyone just wanted to go to lunch. Luckily, one couple on the roll call were also at our late seating table, and one evening after dinner invited us to see their suite. I forget which level it was (owner's suite?)--in any case, it was all beautiful wood and green marble, and the bathroom had double sinks and a bidet, among other amenities.
