We will be taking the kids soon and wondered if anyone can give us an idea which program would be better.....so that we can plan something in each port to do.

Dolphin Cove looks very nice in Ocho Rios...but have heard that you are better to do it in Grand Caymans.....hope someone can give me some insite.

thank you

I myself am not a fan of dolphin swims, but if you want to do it, I've heard that OR is better than GC. IN my opinion, OR should be an excursion port, so if you're looking for something to do there, that would be a good option with kids.

In GC, I would plan on spending the time in the crystal clear ocean and snorkeling or beaching it. Such a lovely clean and safe island to do on your own.

If you were going to Cozumel, that's where I'd recommend the dolphin swim (not that I would recommend it at all, but that's the nicest facility I've seen in all the Caribbean).

well just to add confusion

I'd expect the quality of the operation in Cayman to be heads and shoulders better than anything you'd see in JA or COZ just because the standard of living is so much higher. BUT I'd ALSO expect the Cayman trip to cost more for the very same reason.

There are two in Cozumel and they are both very well run, clean, healthy for the dolphins, etc. Cozumel and Playa Dolphin swims are the best I've seen in the Caribbean. Cayman, not so much.

our problem is as a family of 4 only the kids ages 14 and 15 will be swimming with the dolphins....and on Carnival we have been told that if we do the excursion in the caymans we can go and observe for like $30 each....but if we do the Ocho rios one there is no observer offered and all 4 of us will have to pay the full excursion price regardless that only 2 are doing it. We will NOT let the children go on an excursion in Ocho Rios by themselves....NO wAY

I don't blame you for not letting the kids go by themselves - mine is 20 and I don't let him go either! I can't believe that they charge you to watch your children on an excursion? My husband wants to do it and I don't, I just assumed that I'd be able to watch him? I was looking at "Dolphin Discovery" in Cozumel though, because he wants to do the Stingray City tour in Grand Cayman. Good luck to you!

Please do not support Dolphin Cove or Dolphin Discovery (or SeaWorld, Marineland, or any likes thereof?

You ask "why?" Please see the documentary, The Cove and the recent released Blackfish.

Agree with this 100%. Don't support these types of operations. The dolphins are not treated well.
