Beach within walking distance?

Are there any beaches within walking distance of where the ships dock?

If not, what is the closest beach, and is the water calm there?

My husband and I are not big on snorkeling or things like that, we just want to go to a nice beach and relax for an hour or two. We've never been there before so we have no clue.

Thanks. :)

It has been a while since we were in Tortola but I don't believe there is a beach at the dock. But there are open air safari taxis offering tours when you get off the ship. They hold 16 or more people. It was very inexpensive - $15 or $20 per person and they gave us a tour and stopped for an hour or two at one of the beaches and returned us to the port. In the afternoon we toured Road Town on our own. We loved Tortola and would plan something similar if we go back.

Here's a link to descriptions of the beaches. You would taxi to any of these, CGB and Brewers are the more popular and are about $16pp roundtrip, Brewers will generally be rougher because it's on the north shore, CGB can be very calm or a bit rough depending on sea conditions. Smuggler's is much quieter and more secluded but no amenities.

Yes that would be ideal as Tortola is a gorgeous island with breathtaking photo ops of the bays from the hills. The taxi drivers will negotiate a tour with you and drop you for a great burger or fish taco at Tony's or Myett's in CGB or Nicole's in Brewers where you can spend some beach time.

Great day that!
