Does anyone know where the Rivera ship is usually docked in Venice and also Rome.. Just looking at the closest accommodations that are not far from port, nice and doesn't cost an arm and leg.. Just scouting it out..

Hope you are aware that the ship will not go to Rome itself but to Civitavecchia which is the port for Rome. It is about 40 miles from Civitavecchia to Rome or to the Rome airport. There are hotels in Civitavecchia and they are probably a lot cheaper than in Rome. However, not much to do there except to get on and off a ship.

It would be a shame to miss Rome and all of the things there even at the greater expense. In comparison to the cruise price, it would not be that much of an addition. Great city, lots to see, plenty of hotels (but the good ones are not cheap).
