IPA's on NCL

I'm not a beer drinker, so I wonder. If NCL purchased small volumes of craft beers, local beer or whatever. Would the beer specialists on here be willing to pay, say maybe $10-15 per beer? Similar to how wines are priced with similar mark ups? I'm guessing if the demand was there it could be possible. I think mass market cruise lines market to mass market cruisers? If the majority of cruisers ask for Bud or Coors, that's what's going to be on board. I know the way many on here grumble about drink costs, I figure the cruise lines guess they could not sell expensive beer.

And cost is generally associated with volume.

They charge more for Samuel Adams Boston Lager. They even put it on the list of 'import' beer. Lots of IPAs sell for what Sam ( the largest American brewery now) do. We aren't realistically thinking they might keep Bourbon County Stout or Dogfish Head 120 Minute IPA. It'd be nice.....

Uhhhh, sorry. Got sidetracked daydreaming there.

Lookit. We understand that there are lots of people who just cgug back a cold Coor's Light ( gotta do it that way so you don't actually taste the rice) but there is a market for decent beer that thay could.....wait for it....tap.

And,....we wil certainly NEVER see them stocking Samuel L. Jackson Beer on the ship.

As others have alluded to, it's all about retail space. I would like to see them bring back individual cartons of chocolate milk, or better yet, coffee milk.

Hey hey hey.

This is a beer thread, you can't be mentioning milk. Yikes, my stomach roils just seeing that word.......on a beer thread.

You "beer guys/gals" crack me up, and I mean that in a good way!!!:D

You remind me of some scotch drinkers. I hope some day NCL can make it happen for you. Although I would miss the entertainment value of the beer discussions.

Why not start "hounding" NCL to give it a try with a limited quantity and see if they would give it a whirl for six months or so??

Hey now. Beer is the most important substance in the history of the world. And, one of the tastiest-if you choose wisely.

A fellow asked if it would be the end of the world if they tried it. I'm thinking it would only be a sign that the end of the world is just around the corner when the ships actually have a beer selection.

We asked the head of NCL and he was all excited that they were gonna put another lager on the Breakaway. He is obviously clueless and therein lies the problem.

While the "If you don't have the beer I like, then you don't have good beer" crowd is always entertaining...

NCL, like other businesses, listens to their bottom line. It is more important to consider what people DO rather than what they SAY.

When it came time to place Moderno on all of the ships, NCL had to figure out which specialty restaurant would be removed to provide the needed space. Obviously, the least profitable of the bunch took the hit.

It didn't matter what people SAID they like or dislike, what mattered what where they actually ate....the restaurant with the worst numbers was shown the door.

If you really feel that the current beer is "swill" and "crap" you simply have to STOP drinking it. Period. Not once, not ever. You have to show NCL the economic strength of people who think thier beer is better. If they keep hitting the profit targets with the current selection, things will never change.

Oh stop. We know why they don't have a selection of beer.

Have another BudLight and step away from the keyboard.

What are the chances of getting a good ipa on ncl these days or am I stuck drinking crap beer all week?

The chances of an IPA are 0% however here is the beer list available on most ships, so you have Sam Adams, Bass, Becks & Guinness for a touch of flavor.

How DARE you even suggest that OP should even be in the same BAR as the swill you offer... let alone drink it!

Sure...we all "know" why...wink, wink

Until your actions meet your words, NCL will keep moving on with the profitable mix of beers that they have. Until such time as it can be shown that the selection offered costs them profits, thing won't change.

As long as you keep buying it, they'll keep selling it.

What is not being factored into this 'bean-counter beer mix' is that the poor selection of beers available may well have discouraged some potential cruisers from ever booking. We all know that the main profits are made from on-board spend. Tempt the beer-monster on board with a few decent beers on offer and who knows?

It does not take up much inventory space to have a few crates of good stuff available at the beer bar.

Rest assured, a proper beer-monster will sniff it out pretty quick! (You should have seen me when I found out where the Warsteiner was being sold!)

LOL, at least least the swill I offerd has a touch of flavor other than rice. I want rice beer when I cruise out of China, not New Orleans!

Probably a pretty big stretch to call something brewed by Anheuser-Busch a "craft beer"

Well, it is brewed only for Carnival Cruise Lines. So perhaps an exclusive brand.:)

Notes/Commercial Description:

Brewed exclusively for Carnival Cruise Lines.

Carnival's private label beer

So back to my question. Are there any draft beers (good or not so good) on NCL ships?

A microbrewery or craft brewery is a brewery that produces a limited amount of beer. Exact definitions vary, but the terms are typically applied to breweries that are much smaller than large-scale corporate breweries and are independently owned. Such breweries are generally characterized by their emphasis on flavor and brewing technique.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microbrewery

There is simply no scenario in which anything brewed by AB could be considered a craft beer.

Also, we could ALL do without the Comic Sans, no?
