Majesty or Enchantment? FLL or Miami?

Want to take our adult kids and spouses on short cruise to celebrate our daughters marriage and our 40th wedding anniversary. Bahamas in May looks like a possibility. Weather good then??? 3-4 day fits with their busy schedules. Trying to decide which ship and port would be best. We can fly to Fort Lauderdale or Miami but don't know how close these airports are to the ports. Looks like Majesty leaves from one port and Enchantment leaves from the other. We have to coordinate flights from three different airports. Philadelphia, Baltimore and ours from Myrtle Beach, SC. Maybe I am asking too many questions on one thread. Have not been on this forum for a few years. Last cruise in 2007. Thanks in advance.

Lots of questions and that's great. You have a lot of planning to do. You'll probably get a better response if you post your questions on the RCI board http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=83

If you leave from Miami, then try to fly into MIA...it's about a 20 min. cab ride to port. You could fly into Ft. Laud, but you will need some sort of shuttle or car rental to get to Miami.....a cab is way too expensive!

Port Canaveral isn't really conveniently located near a major airport.

As far as weather goes....it should be just about perfect in May!

Some info:

Enchantment sails from Port Canaveral and the closest airport is Orlando International (MCO). It is 45 minutes from the airport to Port Canaveral.

Enchantment is a newer and bigger ship than the Majesty. There are shared shuttle services from Orlando to Port Canaveral or you can rent a car in Orlando and turn it in at the rental agencies located in Cocoa Beach/Cape Canaveral.

Majesty sails from Miami and Miami International (MIA) is the closest airport. Ft. Lauderdale International (FLL) is the next closest (40 minutes north of Miami. Many people fly into Ft. Lauderdale for cruises leaving from Miami as airfares can be (but not guaranteed) lower than into Miami International. When flying into Ft. lauderdale you also have to consider transportation options to Miami.

Majesty is the oldest ship in the Royal Caribbean fleet. That doesn't mean the Majesty is not a great ship. I have sailed her a few times and the ship is in great shape. Things about the Majesty that are different from Enchantment is that the Majesty's cabins are smaller in square footage. On the Majesty the only cabins with balcony's are the suites, Enchantment has standard balcony cabins in addition to the suites.

Good luck with your planning.
