ccruisequeen Posted February 3, 2014 #126 Share Posted February 3, 2014 (edited) The upstairs areas by the fish and chips station on the Conquest class ships is a good place to find an empty table when the buffet is full Sent from my iPhone using Forums Only if you're able bodied. wantocruisemore Posted February 3, 2014 #127 Share Posted February 3, 2014 Only if you're able bodied. I doubt there's an elevator for the disabled. I seem to remember an elevator up there near where we ate on embarkation day. I loved the fish n chips. Just with so many choices onboard I only got there once. Actually it just occurred to me, the fish from fish n chips would be better in a cantina taco than the fish they use.

The elevator goes up to deck 9, but you have to walk up either the steps in the buffet or right outside of the door to get to the F&C which are on Deck 10. I know, I spent some time up there :D
bumbleklutz Posted February 4, 2014 #129 Share Posted February 4, 2014 Have heard if you book steakhouse the first night you get free bottle of wine, sailing on Valor in March is this true It was on the Liberty in 2012, and I THINK it's still true and available on all ships with a steakhouse. stowawaykc Posted February 4, 2014 #130 Share Posted February 4, 2014 Not sure if it has been mentioned on here, I did not read all of the posts yet, but the free drink coupon they give you for being a past guest can also be used at the bar in the atrium any time. I think it states you can only use it in the dining rooms at lunch, but we were able to use ours in the atrium last week on the Dream. pinniped71 Posted February 5, 2014 #133 Share Posted February 5, 2014 I always like to bring a Febreeze or Glade room freshener(not the plug in kind) to make the room smell nicer! Lysol and Clorox wipes if you are a germ-a-phobe like me. The over the door shoe rack is great as well.....I never cruise without mine. I found a small cloth one in Dollar General many moons ago!:D Pack your patience...you will have to stand in line for most things!

wantocruisemore Posted February 5, 2014 #135 Share Posted February 5, 2014 I tried this on Paradise early January. Didn't work... I understand if you wait to use your free drink coupon to the last sea day then it will be honored at the atrium bar, and most others.

vamartha Posted February 5, 2014 #138 Share Posted February 5, 2014 Here is a HUGE tip if your diabetic... BRING PLEANTY OF SYRINGES! If you run out, you are NOT allowed to buy them in port and bring them on-board.. You can only bring them on board at embarkation. If you run out, be prepared to pay FOUR BUCKS per syringe from the medical center on board... And if you are lucky enough to get stuck out at sea for a few extra days due to a storm (like my last cruise), they increase the fee for them to EIGHT BUCKS. On the other hand if you run out of alcohol prep pads, the staff on the Breeze in October was happy to provide us with a handful at no charge. I went in requesting to buy them but they wouldn't hear of it.
rugbykat2010 Posted November 16, 2014 #139 Share Posted November 16, 2014 Loving all of these helpful tips! My advice is: -Bring an empty water bottle with you. You can fill it up with ice and a drink for the pool so you don't have to keep going back and forth filling up those little plastic cups. -Carry on your swimsuit. Once you're on board the party has started and you may want to swim but you may not get your luggage for a few hours. -You can order two appetizers in the MDR. I always have a hard time choosing just one item that I want to try. -Go to the sea day brunch. It's wonderful and a nice break from the Lido rush. -Get to the comedy shows early. They fill up fast. You know that in regards to your comment about the appetizers that you can have more that two. You can eat as many of everything that you want at all meal seatings in the MDR. My DH has even ordered 4 study in sushis on some cruises just because they are so small. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk
cmecruise1962 Posted November 17, 2014 #140 Share Posted November 17, 2014 It was on the Liberty in 2012, and I THINK it's still true and available on all ships with a steakhouse. Just off the Conquest and they did still offer that and made an announcement that if you booked on the 2nd formal night, you would get a free bottle then as well. I didn't book because I was with 2 teenagers...
momonthego17 Posted November 17, 2014 #141 Share Posted November 17, 2014 Since the Cheers program has raised their rate to $49.95/person/day, we are back to ordering Bon Voyage liquor which will be in our stateroom when we embark. My DH and I will bring our dozen less than 20 oz bottles/cans of mixer per person in our carry on and set up our bar with ice and Bubba cups. We had a great time last cruise with Cheers but I'm not willing to pay $900 for something I would have paid $600 for a couple weeks ago for the two of us. You can order Bon Voyage on the Carnival website.

Rare Saint Greg Posted March 29, 2018 #143 Share Posted March 29, 2018 Good thread but we could probably use a new one so people aren’t reading 8 pages of 5 year old posts to get to the current info.
Organized Chaos Posted March 29, 2018 #144 Share Posted March 29, 2018 Good thread but we could probably use a new one so people aren’t reading 8 pages of 5 year old posts to get to the current info.Post #3 of this thread points to an even older thread that's 251 pages long and went on for 11 years. It even lasted longer than this one. That's an impressive run. Eight pages is nothing compared to that. Besides, I don't think a whole lot of people even bother reading entire threads anymore once they get past a few pages. That's why we see the exact same answers repeated over & over again throughout entire threads, even small ones. Someone asked about the best way to keep ship's time, other than a cell phone, and three pages of people say wear a watch because they don't read the thread. I'll read through this one and skim through the other one over time because I'm sure I can find some good things to take away from them. Shoot, I'd rather see that monster thread float to the top because it deserves some props for going that long. LOL

Rare Saint Greg Posted March 29, 2018 #146 Share Posted March 29, 2018 hope some good hints come up, booking my first cruise with Carnival on the Magic for next year. I’ll give you mine from Breeze. Should be similar to Magic. 1. Embarkation day eat deck 11 aft. On breeze it’s Cucina Del Capitano...and it’s nearly empty because most people eat the first food they see on deck 5 and 10. 2. At night if the promenade is congested and you need to quickly get from one end of the ship to the other, travel on deck 4. Nobody is down there. 3. On port day when everyone is waiting for an elevator on deck 0. Take the stairs and get in a glass elevator that doesn’t go down to deck 0. 4. After a comedy show if you need to use the bathroom, instead of using the ones right outside the comedy club that everyone flocks to, just go down one flight of stairs and use the ones right there on deck four. Nobody uses them.

jerseygirlinAZ Posted March 29, 2018 #148 Share Posted March 29, 2018 I read the whole 8-page thread, lol. My last cruise was in 2016 on the Conquest. As another posted had happen, our power strip was confiscated from our room with a note saying we could pick it up at the end of the cruise. If you take one, I wouldn't leave it laying around if you aren't in the room. Rumor has it that the best odds in the casino are night one, and that held true for us. We did the cheese plate to go every night and enjoyed it with some wine on the balcony later in the evening. You can get ice cream (banana split even, I think) as dessert in the MDR, even though it's not on the menu. We bring lysol spray to sanitize and to make the small room less stinky in the bathroom. This isn't a secret, but more of a preference ... we bring our own beach towels. This lets us not worry about losing them in ports and helps us remember which chairs are ours should we go grab a quick lunch or take a dip in the pool. We cruise again on the Paradise in June, so would love to hear some more tips!
Rare Saint Greg Posted March 29, 2018 #149 Share Posted March 29, 2018 (edited) Power strips are fine as long as they don’t have surge protection. This is why we don’t need five year old threads bumped. I only read the first page or two of this one and there’s a lot of outdated info. bougiet Posted March 29, 2018 #150 Share Posted March 29, 2018 Power strips are fine as long as they don’t have surge protection. This is why we don’t need five year old threads bumped. I only read the first page or two of this one and there’s a lot of outdated info. You gave some good information. Thank you. I did not bump it for the sake of old information but instead I thought we could use some fresh new ones. Thankfully, there have been contributions so bumpity bump bump bump :) One question I have is that I go on the Dream next year. I always took showers in the Gym as they are much bigger with great water pressure. Is the access to the gym and shower still free? Or do we have to pay?
