Be advised.... It always seems I spend time straightening my hair and as soon as I hit the humid outside, poof! Goes my hair lol

Cruise newbie with me in September on Fantasy out of Charleston and almost had hers taken away. It was a tiny thing, so the person at the scanner let it go but told her she wasn't supposed to have one. Had I heard this person, I probably would've argues that it WAS allowed. Moot point, but...

FAQ says this (under "exceptions" heading)...

"Personal grooming devices such as hair dryers, flat irons, curling irons, and shavers, are allowed on board when used with proper caution. However, if such devices are determined to pose a hazard, they will be removed and returned the last day of the cruise prior to debark"

I always take mine. But, just for safety measures, I always unplug it and put it away after every use. Then, its out of sight when the steward cleans the room. Also, that solves the issue if I were to forget to turn it off, and it should get confiscated because of that. Also - no one wants a fire on board ship. Just my own safety precautions.
