Cookies Hide and Seek

One of my favorite food items are the cookies on NCL. I don't know why I like them so much, but I do. Placing ice cream in the middle makes for an enjoyable ice cream sandwich. Macadamia white chocolate chip and chocolate chocolate chip are my favorites but I've never been known to turn down the chocolate chip ones either.

So my question is why oh why does NCL play hide and seek with the cookies all week long!!!

Most recently on the Gem they were found most often in the Great Outdoors near the La Cucina, but sometimes they were on the 'soup' side of the GO buffet. More rarely they were in the MDR at the crepe location.

On the Jewel they were at the Great Outdoors pretty regularly, but also near the pool.

Maybe I shouldn't complain - chasing these cookies around each day must have worked off a couple thousand calories which I happily regained once I found them!!

I have seen passengers load up a plate with 20 or more cookies as soon as they are put out on the buffet. This is just plain wrong. Why do some people seem to leave their manners at home when they cruise?

OK...I've vented and I feel better now!!

NCL could bake these all day/night long and they would still disappear because NCL has now educated it's passengers that when you see them you get each person to grab 4 or more.

Yep, that's probably why they hide them! I wouldn't have the nerve to do that.

It was great on our last cruise, we were just sitting in the atrium and they were walking around handing out fresh hot cookies! very nice touch!

Agree! At least wait until AFTER I have my plate piled high with cookies before cutting in line and grabbing them off the tray without using the tongs.

I've noticed that the pound cake and banana bread is still easy to find all over the place - I wonder if there are cost factors involved.. hate to think like that, but I'm sure every ounce of food is scrutinized and if playing hide and seek with the cookies saves the cost of hundreds of dozens of cookies each week with most passengers pacified by the pound cake it probably makes sense to the number crunchers to inconvenience the cookie crunchers

Shhhhh, don't tell anyone or they'll be all gone....

but the Casino, every night, has them at their little 'snack' station

Fave thing on the EPIC after watching the big late night movie in the atrium (and snacking on the popcorn) wandering back to the aft elevators through the casino to grab a nightcap of cookies or brownies.:D

On the Breakaway, if you went to the Garden Buffet at the end of the day, they had tons of cookies out. I remember that we all feasted after the fireworks display. What could be better, fireworks followed by fresh baked cookies! :D

You are correct. We have noticed in the last year or so they have been 'rationing' the cookies. Previously they were always available pretty much everywhere, but lately they are getting harder and harder to find. I am fairly sure it's because they are expensive to make and NCL saves a nickel by limiting the number they bake and put out. Cannot think of any other reason a basic staple like cookies would be limited on a cruise ship.

Ahhhh, see now what you did!? Now the cookies AND brownies will be missing from the Casino! LOL

Just book a suite and have your butler deliver them several times a day.

In the past, we could locate cookies several times each cruise, once we cracked the code. Now, we may only find them one time per cruise. Mostly, we can go an entire week and never locate any cookies. As far as, fresh and hot, forget about it!

On one cruise, crew told me they were delivering them to the kids club. But we could never find them for adults.

its so funny to see that im not alone in my cookie madness.

DH is the cookie scout. But when he finally finds 'em...the chocolate chip is always gone!!!!

Just then, (it never fails) there is a family walking by with what looks like the ENTIRE platter of chocolate chip cookies saying..."Sure glad we found them now! Never know if we'll find 'em for the rest of the cruise...Honey? < cookie crumbs falling out the mouth > You have the ziplocks I packed???"

:eek::eek::eek:

Substitute "studio lounge" for "casino" and you have my nightly routine last November. I loved watching the movies and then stopping by the studio lounge to grab some milk and cookies before heading to my cabin. XD

My favorite perk of the Breakaway studio lounge was the constant supply of cookies & pound cake:)

It's definitely a perk! The cookies and the coffee machine!

(Not sure whether or not the Breakaway has the glorious coffee machine that the Epic studio lounge has that makes yummy cappuccinos and lattes...?).

On our Dawn (Bermuda) trip this summer, there was no sign of cookies, but there was a small sign in the buffet that said cookies were available "upon request".

It was the same thing on our recent New England cruise on the Dawn. I think I only saw cookies on the buffet once in 2 weeks.

Our butler delivered cookies one afternoon and since we devoured them, I would've thought she'd have gotten the hint and brought more instead of the disgusting horse douvers. :p Never happened.
