Balcony discount and visa points redemption?

Is Royal applying the diamond balcony discount if you use Visa points as part of your payment? Not for a free cruise, but just $$ off....if not what is stopping me from just using it as an OBC instead....not using it and having the $$ credited back to my card? Just wondering...

Yes you can get your balcony discount with Visa points used at $$ off the cruise price. I even got it when using points for an upgrade last week. I was not sure if that would be the case.
