QE2 fan Posted November 20, 2013 #1 Share Posted November 20, 2013 Yet another question about my forthcoming trip :) Due to circumstances beyond my control, I want to book the Aug/Sep crossings next year as late as possible. How likely is that I'll be able to get a midships cabin even in the spring of next year? Also are prices usually higher the later you leave it? I have previously always booked a year or more in advance.

I have previously always booked a year or more in advance. That's a popular time to cross at the end of the summer. I should think three to four months out you might still get a mid-ship cabin. But, you can just continue to check every so often by going on the Cunard website or any cruise broker online and see what the mid-ship cabin availability is and gauge it. To be honest, if a midship cabin becomes available due to a cancellation I would hope an early booker would get upgraded to it and not a latecomer. Nothing personal but those who pay more should get more.
lannp Posted November 20, 2013 #4 Share Posted November 20, 2013 Friends booked in late June for late September 2013 and they were able to select a mid-ships cabin on deck 4. I had discussed where they needed to be for stability because my friend was worried about seasickness.

keithm Posted November 21, 2013 #6 Share Posted November 21, 2013 Thanks for your replies everyone :) Judging by your amount of Cunard voyages, perhaps you should be giving us some pointers!

glojo Posted November 21, 2013 #8 Share Posted November 21, 2013 My sister booked a very late holiday at a Gateway bargain for a last minute cruise this August on the Queen Mary 2. They were allocated a midships balcony cabin which I think was deck 6?
DDBINK1 Posted November 22, 2013 #9 Share Posted November 22, 2013 I did a late January Caribbean on QM2 booked it less than 30 days out and got a balcony mid ships deck 11.
hehny Posted November 24, 2013 #10 Share Posted November 24, 2013 I've found Cunard is great with wait lists for room categories. I got taken off twice to get what I wanted after a late (4 weeks) booking.
