smeck Posted November 26, 2013 #1 Share Posted November 26, 2013 I'm guessing the Broadway show on the Quantum will be Wicked given who the Godmother is. What do you think?
39august Posted November 26, 2013 #2 Share Posted November 26, 2013 Kristen won an award for her role in "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown" several years ago. So, that could be the one. It certainly would be less difficult to mount than "Wicked".
ehfl Posted November 26, 2013 #3 Share Posted November 26, 2013 Wicked is a bit heavy and sad for a vacation. I'm thinking something more upbeat.
Tyler80 Posted November 26, 2013 #4 Share Posted November 26, 2013 Wicked is a bit heavy and sad for a vacation. I'm thinking something more upbeat. Don't forget Allure of the Seas has Chicago. So Wicked wouldn't be too heavy. Personally I would love Wicked.

crookedhalo Posted November 26, 2013 #6 Share Posted November 26, 2013 Wicked would be awesome! Saw it a few years ago at the Kennedy Center and sets are pretty basic and could probably be scaled back very easily:). Would go and see this again in a heartbeat! DEIx15x8 Posted November 27, 2013 #7 Share Posted November 27, 2013 Joseph and the amazing technicolor dreamcoat or Mary Poppins. I'm sure Disney has a hold on Mary Poppins and any promoting Royal would do around it would help it's competitor so it's not likely.
Devoted2royal Posted November 27, 2013 #8 Share Posted November 27, 2013 (edited) Wicked is an amazing show!! IMHO it's a very feasible production to stage, on a cruise ship that is. Really all that's needed is to scale down the set pieces a tad and cut maybe three or four scenes, and you've got yourself a show! Overtyme Posted November 27, 2013 #11 Share Posted November 27, 2013 (edited) I just took a look at licensing and information for Wicked on the Stephen Schwartz website: http://www.stephenschwartz.com/faq/wicked-fans/ There are two different sections below from his site: WICKED LICENSING/RIGHTS Stephen Schwartz: We are in the process of negotiating the deal for stock-and-amateur licensing rights to WICKED. Needless to say, I don’t expect them to become available for some time, since they are generally not made available until after the Broadway production has closed. If all continues to go well with the Broadway production, that is probably several years away. CASTING/FOREIGN PRODUCTION/TOUR ANNOUNCEMENTS We’ve been asked often about replacements, casting of the tour, where the tour will play, etc., as well as possible foreign productions. We are not permitted to announce anything on this site before it becomes public information. I'm not sure which section applies to Cruise ships of international registry, so I listed them both. The not permitted to announce anything until it becomes public, may be more of a general statement than anything. The first section indicates that as long as Wicked is doing well, the rights probably won't be sold (but then again, that may only be for use in the United States). So, if someone that is more intimate with the theater community would decipher what's spelled out here, that would be great. sparkx Posted November 27, 2013 #12 Share Posted November 27, 2013 Perhaps total coincidence as well ... but the parade is also celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Wizard of Oz ... would have a synergy for them to announce Wicked at the same time for Quantum. But as I say, could be unrelated.

I think the ship would probably fall under section 2 as it's a professional production more like the tours. The first sounds like it's more for schools and community theaters. DEIx15x8 Posted November 28, 2013 #17 Share Posted November 28, 2013 (edited) I thought the NCL Getaway is going to have Wicked? Their hosting a travel agent run Wicked fan group cruise. Nothing that seems to be officially linked directly to the actual production and no actual performances onboard. negc Posted November 28, 2013 #24 Share Posted November 28, 2013 Well, one more question answered and Mamma Mia beats out Wicked and is probably a better fit. Of course there is still a show to be assigned to Anthem so let the speculation continue.:)
Kenlorz Posted November 30, 2013 #25 Share Posted November 30, 2013 OMG!!!! Just heard the news! While I really thought it would be wicked, I am over the moon happy about Mama Mia. I've seen the Broadway show in Vegas & New York and have watched the DVD at least 20 times. This is an A+ in my book.
