HUNKY Posted November 27, 2013 #1 Share Posted November 27, 2013 I'm new to Princess, sailing on the CB January 2014. Does Princess do port upgrades? For instance, on Disney, after completing check in at the port, you head over to the supervisor desk, and if cabins or suites are available they will offer a paid upgrade. Pam in CA Posted November 27, 2013 #2 Share Posted November 27, 2013 (edited) I'm new to Princess, sailing on the CB January 2014. Does Princess do port upgrades? For instance, on Disney, after completing check in at the port, you head over to the supervisor desk, and if cabins or suites are available they will offer a paid upgrade. Never. The computers at check-in aren't linked to the booking system. You can try going to the Passenger Services Desk after boarding and asking but if a cabin is available (usually, there aren't any), you'll pay the difference between the fare you paid and the full retail rate for the cabin. However, you may get a surprise at the pier and find yourself upgraded without cost. All bookings are marked "will accept an upgrade" by default and unless you request a change, you could find yourself "upgraded" to a different cabin. Buyer beware: what Princess considers an upgrade may not be to a location you want. Edited November 27, 2013 by Pam in CA

HUNKY Posted November 27, 2013 Author #4 Share Posted November 27, 2013 An upgrade to a balcony suite is acceptable, but a move to a different category cabin is not. We booked directly with Princess, whom do I contact to insure that we do not lose our chosen cabin?

You can either have them mark "will not accept upgrade" or "only accept upgrade to higher type cabin" known to us as a "meta upgrade."
