Are there any inexpensive things to do in Port Canerval while the ship is docked there all day? We are trying not to spend tons of money on excursions, but would like to find something that will not break the bank.. any help would be appreciated

This is where On December 25, 1837, a force of 2,000 U.S. Army soldiers and Alabama Volunteers arrived in the area to construct a fort, which they named Fort Christmas.

We almost always go to Jetty Park when the ship docks at Port Canerval. it is $5.00 a poerson for the cab ride, free to get into Jetty Park. The beach is nice, you can walk out quite a way because the ocean floor is flat. There are usually waves -- not to big but fun, there is a fishing pier. A small concession stand, bathrooms, some soveniers and a place to rent fishing gear.

On season to rent 2 chairs and an umbrella is $15.00 for the day. There are also boogie boards to rent.

There is a campground and play area for the kids.

We have seen manatee, porpoise, sea turtles, ospry, pelicans. One day the porpoise put on a show for almost an hour.

If you want inexpensive, quiet area this is it.
