nutley chick Posted December 5, 2013 #1 Share Posted December 5, 2013 Hey everyone - I am contemplating switch one last time to a Haven spa (S9) I have seen so many post latley that my head is about to explode with all the great information that you have all furnished. My question is: What have you requested from the butler? I wouldn't have a clue what I would request from him except coffee :-) I just need some idea's as to what they will do for me and what I could ask for that I wouldn't otherwise think of. NH Cruisers Posted December 5, 2013 #2 Share Posted December 5, 2013 Hello Jeves, could you wash my back? Oh I don't know. Never had one. Probably ask for your room service food and snacks. Jon
preemiemd Posted December 5, 2013 #3 Share Posted December 5, 2013 Your butler will deliver snacks to your suite each afternoon. You can request specific items such as the famous pretzel rolls if you like. The butler also delivers anything you order from room service and sets it up with white tablecloth service. You don't have to order coffee though because you will have an awesome Lavazza espresso machine in your suite!

We had the aft wrap - Haven Suite - 9316 in September and the Butler delivered a full breakfast to our balcony and set it up for us to enjoy! ;)
valleyvillage Posted December 5, 2013 #5 Share Posted December 5, 2013 The butlers are also great if you have special requests for the room, like emptying the fridge, bringing in milk for the latte machine, extra pillows, etc. The first day we let the butler know what snacks and treats we prefer and that has always proven to be quite successful! On one cruise we told the butler he could remove the sparkling wine as we were spoiled by the good stuff from the time we had an Owner's Suite. I asked if he could bring some of the house white or red, if possible. He smiled and said he would see what he could do. Next thing you know, there is a chilled bottle of REAL champagne on ice in our suite! Turns out he was also the butler for the OS and they didn't drink! :D I would never expect that miracle again, but it sure was fun. Of course, he got an EXTRA BIG tip! johnsak123 Posted December 6, 2013 #13 Share Posted December 6, 2013 Although I rarely ask the butler for anything I like the idea of having him or her if I need it. Kadek was my butler on the gem last year and the only thing I said to him regarding doing something for me was not to bring me cookies. He asked me why and I said I didn't like them and would not eat them so why waste food. He asked me what I liked and each night there was a plate of delicious cookies I totally enjoyed. I thought that was very thoughtful of him regardless if it was his job or not. I heard he got promoted to concierge. Good for him!!

sjbdtz Posted December 6, 2013 #16 Share Posted December 6, 2013 Me too-and he gladly did it! That's usually a task that would fall to the concierge. The butler takes care of your room-centered requirements, and the concierge takes care of the ship-based needs. On Gem, Carlos retrieved my bottle for me from the gift shop. . rsinj Posted December 6, 2013 #17 Share Posted December 6, 2013 (edited) On the last day, I wasn't aware that the place where they collected the pool towels closed early. Later that night I asked the butler to take the towels and just make sure we didn't lose our deposit for them. Has anyone asked this before? Thanks for the answers but I was wondering more for the 1 nighter next week, I would rather head straight to the casino instead of the store so I was wondering if they could make the purchase for me and just leave the stuff in my suite. Thanks in advance!
tymike Posted December 7, 2013 #20 Share Posted December 7, 2013 I have asked the butler--on the last night of the crusie to pick up my liquor purchased from the on board store On the Dawn a few years ago I also got liquor picked up...but it was different! No one was ever asked to do so! One the last night of the cruise, I went to the show while my bf went to the very long line to pick up purchases in the shop . Our concierge...Anoop (best ever!) saw me arrive at the show alone and asked where bf was (by name). I explained. He picked up his phone...I ran back to the shop...got bf out of the line and we both enjoyed the show with no stress! That was my first cruise ever and I've been on NCL ever since! Seriously excellent service! I think that if a butler or concierge is asked, they will make it happen! It happened for us even without a request!:)

Orleanscruiser Posted December 7, 2013 #23 Share Posted December 7, 2013 Just off the Gem last June , we meet some new friend during the week , On the last day we asked our butler Ciprianno to set up some snack we were going to invite our new friends in our aft penthouse . Well Ciprianno did set up some snack was more like a private buffet(sandwich ,veggie tray, cheese tray, assorted cookies, canopy and of course our favorite pretzel rolls). In my opinion it's the butler's responsibility to keep you happy during your cruise

We were on the Epic recently for 3 B2B2B cruises and ended up with 2 bottles of champagne at the start of each segment. When we went to the Cirque show and headliners club shows, we had our butler bring a bottle of champagne down to each show and set up us with an ice bucket and glasses. It was a great way to watch the shows.
