San Juan National Historic Site

This place is amazing! I wouldn't miss it if you have never been to Puerto Rico and are physically able to walk a lot!

 

A couple of things that I wish I would have known-

 

1. It doesn't open until 9 am. RCCI Explorer of the Seas was there from 7-1. We spent over 3 hours at both sites.

 

2. There is a free shuttle! It goes between the sites and into Old San Juan. We took it from the farthest Fortress to just passed (about 2 blocks) the cruise port. I don't know where to find a schedule on the shuttle. Otherwise from the cruiseport, you can see the fortress. It is a few blocks.

 

3. Your US National Parks Pass works here, so if you have the one for Seniors, it allows for the cardholder and 3 others to get in for free. Bring the pass don't leave it at home :D

 

I know that we will be returning to San Juan as we didn't get to see anything other than the Fortresses. Which are amazing!

Yes, the forts are very nice. We always get a National Parks pass. Very handy.

The forts are wonderful to view.

It's especially nice sail into San Juan harbor on a beautiful day to be on deck and sail past the fort. We never tire of that view.
