Rare MicCanberra Posted December 10, 2013 #2 Share Posted December 10, 2013 The Swan Valley Food & Wine Trail Tour if offered in Fremantle for those staying on board for a B2B. For those of you that may have taken this tour, which wineries/breweries did you stop at? I have not done this tour with a Cruise but via a tour company Captain Cook cruises and we went to the Sandalford and the Water's Edge wineries. http://www.captaincookcruises.com.au/wine-cruises The ship's tour is most likely to use one of the local companies, there are several other tour companies that offer a food and wine tour such as http://www.svtours.com.au/tours/food-wine-trail and http://www.viator.com/tours/Perth/Small-Group-Tour-Swan-Valley-Food-and-Wine-Trail/d389-5644GFW :D
benjoon Posted December 10, 2013 #3 Share Posted December 10, 2013 I might be biased being from Perth but any winery you go to in the Swan Valley will be good. We have done a few tours when we have had overseas visitors & had great fun on them. Yes the Captain Cook wine cruise is worth a look at. You can catch a train from Freo & walk to the Barrack St Jetty which is next to the Bell tower. There was plenty of good food & plenty of wine tasting. There was even singing & dancing on the way back. If there is a tour going Margaret River wineries that word be my first choose. A bit of a drive but an interesting one. We enjoyed them very much. The wine cruise up the Swan was great. We visited Sandalford and I think Water's Edge. The other cruise went down to Freemantle, which was nice. They do a good job, with crew that sing quite well, of course the alcohol does help in getting everyone in the mood.:D
geospyder Posted December 11, 2013 Author #7 Share Posted December 11, 2013 (edited) Just a clarification - I wasn't asking which wineries/breweries to be choosey or snobbish :) I'm a geocacher and if I knew which wineries/breweries we would be going to I could check to see if there were any caches nearby - not that I'm obsessed with geocaching or anything :o Edited December 11, 2013 by geospyder

Some tours alternate between some of the wineries. A firend was taken to Houghtons as one of the two stops so I think it depends on who the ship's tour is with and what other bookings the wineries have on the day you visit.:D
