Loud Neighbors

I was reading another thread and a couple of people brought up loud neighbors. Thought I'd start a thread on the subject...

On a recent cruise a couple next to us got into a huge yelling fight that went on for an hour off and on. The wife was screaming at the husband saying he got drunk and lost all their money in the casino. This was m'fer this and m'fer that! This yelling went from the balcony to inside the cabin and back to the balcony with the balcony door slamming each time.

The next morning it started up again. We called security and they must have talked to them because the yelling stopped after that..

Anyone else have any stories of loud neighbors

Once had a cabin next to us with at least 4 young ladies who seemed to have numerous friends. Lots of noise, but they seemed to be having a good time. Fighting I would definitely report to security, but unless it was truly out of hand would not wish to report people who were simply having a good time. Hey they can't stay in their cabin forever.

We had only one cruise where there were loud neighbors. It sounded like a family with kids. They weren't noisy when it mattered the most(at night) so it wasn't a big deal. It was a little weird because it was an inside room and it seemed they were always in there every time we returned to our room for whatever reason. I have a hard enough time being in the inside cabin with my wife, so I can't imagine how they could handle having kids too.

That's a bummer OP. Some adults simply do not know how to act. Thankfully they were told to cut it out.

I don't think you'll find that a regular occurrence, I can only think of one cruise where my neighbors were noisier than I'd like, but in all fairness they weren't loud, I just didn't want to hear them. They were on their balcony talking and playing music, when I just wanted to sit out there and enjoy the sounds of the ocean instead of their nasal voices. I've never been in my room and found anyone particularly loud.

On our last cruise there was a family of seven in the three cabins adjoining us. The parents often left the children there alone in the evening. A couple times it sounded like a riot was going on. Slamming doors and crashing into the walls was common. But fortunately the noise would stop whenever the parents returned so at least we had peaceful nights.

Every time I see a post about parents planning to move their children into a single cabin I cringe. Even just across the hall could be a nightmare for their neighbors if they acted anything like these brats.

The only other really noisy neighbors we had were a group of 20-somethings in two cabins, a balcony and an inside across the hall. These guys did NOT know how to shut a door, balcony or otherwise without slamming them. And of course the balcony cabin right next door was party central until the wee hours.

I may have inadvently been a noisy neighbor once, but that was due to a defect in the locking mechanism on the balcony door I had. To prevent it from opening and closing while cruising while we weren't in the stateroom, you had to lock it. Unfortunately, moving the locking lever up seemed to raise the door a bit then when it would get to the locking point it would slam down. It didn't matter how careful you were, once it got to that point gravity would just take over and... thud.

We had an older woman in the balcony next to us who's voice was so loud and annoying. She never shut up while she was out on the balcony. Everyone on surrounding balcony nicknamed her Gladys Cravitts (from Bewitched). She hated smoke and would loudly voice this if I lit a cigarette occasionally. People on other balconys would ask me to light a cigarette in hopes she would get off her balcony.

We had a family that insisted on slamming the door every time they came in and out - we were the end room so we only had them next door - so when in Rome! They soon stopped when they realised how noisy it was

I think those people live on my floor. People! Just pull a door to, quietly. It works, really, honest it does. :)

That happened to my parents when we were on the Jewel in September, their first cruise that I practically had to strongarm them into taking with us. I didn't hear the fighting but the next night when we were in their cabin, their tv was up so loud we could hear it pretty much loud and clear. Apparently, they kept it on all night. I think they had their do not disturb thing on the whole week. For awhile I thought maybe one of them had done away with the other.

The worst neighbors we ever had put us in a difficuly situation. They were a couple with a child, about 10 yrs old, who had a behavioral disability. Several times a day, the child would come out to their balcony and scream for several minutes. A very high pitched scream. The parents simply stayed inside their cabin and did nothing to stop or modify this behavior. By day five, our sympathy and patience were gone so we took over the role of mean parent and came to the child (in a loud scarey voice) to shut up and go inside. As a parent, I felt bad, but the noise was horrible and his parents had zero consideration for all the cabins subjected to this behavior. And please don't hate on me. I'm ordinarily a very understanding person, but hours of screaming just was too much to tolerate.

I forgot about the guy who was next to us who would go out on his balcony every morning and yell down three or four cabins to see if they we're awake yet. Ever hear of the telephone?

Perfect chance to yell back "We are now".

I was in the last cabin before the aft suites on the gem

The women next to me couldnt smoke in the cabin so she would go out on the balcony several times a day and night and proceed to scream at her husband and kids in the room. This went on for several times a day so I finally told her to shut up and guess what

She did

Recently on the Breakaway there was a guy who slept all day and stayed awake all night on his balcony on his cell phone ( I would love to have been there when he got his bill! ). He talked so loud and cursed so much that people 4 and 5 cabins down could hear every word he was saying with their balcony doors closed. People would yell at him to shut up, honestly I felt like we were in an apartment complex before the invention of phones when people communicated out their windows. For us, there was only one cabin between us and it was obnoxious. On the second night , I asked him very politely to lower his voice and he yelled profanities back at me. I called security and met with them the next day, I filed a complaint. I got a call that same day telling me that they spoke to the man and he admitted that he was inappropriate and he would stop. He did, not one single sound out of him for the rest of the cruise. Security called me a few times after that just to make sure everything was ok. I give the security team on the NCL Breakaway a big high five for how they handled this guy!

This is the first time ever I can say I had a bad neighbor on a cruise!

We had a family next to us with a couple of younger children, maybe 5 & 7. The children seem to think the bed was a trampoline and kept banging into the wall.

This was quite a common occurrence early in the morning and after dinner. Quite annoying really.

But we've had far worse behavior from adults in rooms next to us in hotels

The Carnival sunshine has both balcony and room doors that if left alone to close makes a loud booming sound each and every time. Bundle that with an inconsiderate upwind neighbor who insisted on smoking his putrid used gym socks wrapped in one tobacco leaf on his balcony each afternoon while his senile Better Half bellowed obvious cliches to her chimney hubby 6 feet away!! We spent most of the day up on deck 10 where the air was clean

Interesting how you think that clean air has anything to do with noise
