Carina1621 Posted December 12, 2013 #1 Share Posted December 12, 2013 I just got off of the Carnival Splendor yesterday December 11. This was my first cruise ever. There were 10 of us total and we were married on a beach in Port Canaveral. Although I had a lot of fun moments, i'm not sure if I will cruise again. Maybe 8 days was a little too long for us. We might consider it if it was shorter and if it was warmer. I thought Malcolm was soooooo funny! I heard so many complaints about him and could not understand why. He kept me very entertained and I laughed so hard. My waiters name was Julius and he worked in the Golden pearl upper deck, and he was honestly the sweetest and nicest man I have ever met. Our whole wait staff was outstanding! Just really great people. Me and my husband did the love game and it was one of the highlights from our trip. I laughed so hard my face was hurting. I was so glad that my mom went to bed early that night and was not in the audience. We went to Junkanoo beach in Nassau. It was a very easy walk and the view of the ships in port was amazing. The beach was very small and very rocky, but the people were very nice. We ate from the Tiki Bikini shack, and the food was outstanding. Also we had 3 beers and 3 shots for $9.99. We rented chairs from them for $10 and they threw in a free drink. The water was very calm and clear. We then walked over to Senor Frogs because we had gotten coupon for a free quesadilla and shot with a drink and food order. It was not worth it at all. We ordered chicken wings, a Pina Colada and a beer for $40!! Way overpriced! I wouldn't do that again. Overall it was a nice day. In Freeport we took a $10 pp round trip cap ride to Port Lucaya. Paid $15 for a day pass at the Grand Lucyan Resort and it was gorgeous! We then took a banana boat ride and got to jump off of a pirate ship and see some dolphins. It was amazing!!! At the resort we spent the rest of the day at their infinity pool over looking the ocean. We sat in the swim up bar and ate lunch and ordered very yummy drinks. We didn't want to leave and go back to the ship. It was perfect!!! After we got back on the boat, I began to get restless and just wanted to go home! I missed my children in the worst way. I thought the last 2 days were miserable! We had a spa room interior and had no complaints. Loved the location of the room and I loved the ammenities. The cloud 9 spa was amazing! We enjoyed it many times through out the trip. I thought the ship was kept very clean and all the staff was very nice. I didn't catch much of the shows because of time conflicts. The comedians were very funny except for one that was just not funny at all!! Also after this cruise I never want to hear the wobble again!! I will post some pictures soon! I am in school and have to catch up on my school work and it's also finals week. I'm also attached to the hip with my youngest baby, who is 2!:D

geesherry Posted December 12, 2013 #3 Share Posted December 12, 2013 Thanks for the review! I'll be on her next week, and had a couple of questions- Last month there were reports of a Noro outbreak, with all the resulting precautions and extra hand washing reminders. Are the precautions still in place, and were you awaare of many passengers having intestional flu type illness? How were the seas? Calm, rough, in-between? I'm really starting to get excited, one more week!

Are the precautions still in place, and were you awaare of many passengers having intestional flu type illness? How were the seas? Calm, rough, in-between? I'm really starting to get excited, one more week! There were tons of videos about hand washing!! I didn't hear of anyone being sick though. There is plenty of hand sanitizer around and if you keep your hands clean, you should be fine. The seas were ok. It was my first cruise so I have nothing to compare it to. There was a couple of times that the motion was very noticeable, but I never once felt sick from it. It did rain the first sea day, but by the time the 2nd sea day came it was gorgeous and the weather stayed that way until the last sea day, when it rained again!! JohnSpo Posted December 12, 2013 #7 Share Posted December 12, 2013 Congratulation on your marriage. Just curious where you got married. Was it at Jetty Beach near Port Canaveral? Thanks for your review. I will be on Splendor in 5 weeks doing the same itinerary. I plan to also go to Junkanoo Beach in Nassau.
Vitamin_Sea Posted December 12, 2013 #8 Share Posted December 12, 2013 (edited) Thanks for the review! I do agree, 8 days is a bit long for your first cruise. Looks like you had a nice cabin and you had a good time at the ports. We are sailing the Splendor in 46 days!! Just wondering...When was it warm enough to use the ships pools? The Lido pool could be used the first day because it has a retractable roof. My brother and some of my other family members were in the hot tubs the first and last sea day, even though it was 35 degrees outside. But by the time the 2nd sea day came it was perfect for the outside pools.

We hoped on a cab for about a 15 minute drive. Our cab driver was super nice and gave a nice little history lesson while driving us. They drop you off in front of the casino entrance and all you have to do is walk behind it down to a guard shack to pay the $15. The banana boat ride was $25 and we used a vendor who was on the beach. They were with Ocean Motion water sports. Very nice people! The $15 included a beach chair and the use of the pools and facilities. Well worth it!!

Thanks for your review. I will be on Splendor in 5 weeks doing the same itinerary. I plan to also go to Junkanoo Beach in Nassau. We were married on a public beach in Cape Canaveral. Were you able to stay outside at sailaway? We did stay outside for sail-away. It was very cold, but the view was worth it! The sun was setting and it was just gorgeous and breath taking well worth the cold. The first sea day it rained so I'm not sure what the temperature was, but when I stepped outside the 2nd sea day I went back in and changed because it was so warm, about 75. It remained about 76 - 78 the whole trip until the day before we came home. It got cold QUICK!!!!!! But with the retractable roof on the lido deck, you still had that "outside" feeling. You said you didn't really like it and will not cruise again, but yet have a glowing review. Rather than take a shorter cruise, take your children next time. You just may fall in love with cruising. ;)

You just may fall in love with cruising. ;) I'm not sure if I would have enjoyed it anymore with my children. I actually think I would have had lesss fun with them there. I did enjoy the cruise, I just might opt for a shorter cruise next time or maybe one with more port days and less sea days. I would also choose the earlier dinning. I think the late dinning made it hard for us to make it to all the shows we wanted to see.
